    PFF Mock drafts

Robbins was so bad last year I would have cut him and called Chrisman to come back (Huber retired). I mean - Robbins was otherwordly bad for a punter....Ariza would have flipped fields and at least given the defense more chances to get off the field...

The comp pick always follows the year in which you lose the player. So, for Bates, he left in 2023. Bengals get a comp pick in 2024. It has to do with how they playing time, salary, post-season honors, etc.... So, because Brown took a sweetheart deal to come here, and didn't earn any...

    Hobs took Newton

Right - the NFL formula is so odd they got it wrong this year...and awarded the Bengals a 3rd...and that was with losing Bates and signing Brown. Clearly there is more to it than just a 1-1 comp.

    PFF Mock drafts

Punting was a joke last year. They should have, 100%, dropped whoever it was and signed Ariza the minute he was cleared of all charges. Early on in the year - the defense was so frantic being on the field as long as they were and as often as they were. At one point, I want to say 5-6 games...

    Hobs took Newton

Rankins and Hill are both 3-techs as well. The Bengals currently do not have a true NT on the roster. Sweat would be the highest rated true NT in the draft. However, Murphy is intriguing because he played more NT than Sweat did despite being more of a 3-tech. Could he slide over with a...

    Hobs took Newton

Yeah, unfortunately - a 2nd rounder isn't really worth Tee this year for the Bengals. And a team with a 1st round pick isn't likely going to trade it for a WR when they could draft one and pay them significantly less over the next 5 years.

I think he was, but he was also hurt a lot...and teams are passing more and more on 1st down, which negates, to a degree, what a NT can do. You then bring him off the field on, let's say, 2nd and 10 - and the other team decides to run...now your guys on the field are really set up for...

    PFF Mock drafts

Interesting tidbits by JG here - makes you wonder if after a few years, Lou is deciding that having 1 big NT isn't the way anymore - and that rotating through a bunch of higher level 3-tech guys across the line will actually help more. They will be quicker, add more pressure on 1st down...

    Hobs took Newton

I don't think that's much different than in the past...they allowed Williams to look. I'd assume the same was true for Bates. The only thing that has changed is that last year was a hardline "NO" because they still had the tag this year. You'd be silly not to listen. If someone is going to...

    PFF Mock drafts

I've done a few, but I think things are starting to shake out a bit more. No OT's were there at 18 worth taking, and I didn't want to reach for Guyton there. Murphy, IMO, can grow into an NT and as a part of this DT rotation, I think would be a very good fit. Added more depth at DE - they...

    Hobs took Newton

I'd actually think I'd prefer Murphy at that point. Murphy played more NT than Sweat did at UT - believe it or not. But - I still think you go RT here. At least at the DL you have a few guys under contract for 2 years, and while none of them are NT - you can rotate them through well enough...

    POLL Draft the RT

I went Mims...he tweaked a hammy - which happens a lot to guys this time of year. He's got the highest upside of the 3 - he said behind an All-American - so you know...the limited reps are a thing, but it's not like it wasn't because he wasn't good...the guy in front of him was a freakin'...

He was, when he was healthy. I think that was the issue for the Bengals. They weren't going to overpay him just to keep him with his injury history...

    2024 Free Agency

I think that's what they thought would happen when they drafted that one kid from LSU 3 years ago...gotta be good at this level - not just big. Don't get me wrong - if Sweat is around, and where-ever that pick is - if it warrants a look - then I'm for it. My main point was more - the Bengals...

    2024 Free Agency

Yes - my guess here is that their approach will be to load up at the 3-Tech and rotate them along with either a draft pick, or maybe another veteran after cuts. But either way - the approach will be to plug 1 hole with several rotating guys.

    2024 Free Agency

Interesting thing here is the Bengals could have easily guaranteed him more, even if the overall deal might have been less... Makes me think the Bengals were ready to move on - and potentially - the injury history of Reader was too much for the Bengals to risk at this stage in his career...
