Why can't we say, "both QBs are bad. Neither has potential. One of them has a fat roster bonus that kicks in if he's injured during play, so he's designated as inactive as much as possible to prevent that bonus."
Now Gruden may be sticking up for Cousins, because Cousins presents the best...
I've been saying that the lack of a legitimate deep threat is what's slowing this offense. The opposing DBs are playing press a lot more and the safeties are in the box, not respecting the likes of James Jones or Ty Montgomery to beat them deep. The passing game has become a lot more horizontal...
The Bill Michaels show was talking about acquiring Vernon Davis?? Any other rumors out there, or where they just killing time talking about "what ifs"? I tuned in too late to hear the source of the rumor.
I agree, offense is in a bad place right now. Packers have gone too horizontal in the passing game, and have no legitimate deep threat to back the defense off right now. Also, where is this running game? Lacy and Starks have been non-factors, and non-factor may just be a compliment at this point...
Stafford is getting beat up and Megatron is aging pretty badly. That offensive line is killing the running game too.
The Bears will likely remain stuck in neutral, because Cutler will be just good enough to win 6 to 9 games and stay out of the running for a top rookie QB. I heard rumors that...
So what's the alternative here? They're supposed to give up, pack it in, and wait for someone like Luck to fall to them?
Its easy to nitpick, but right now, the Chargers and Lions are definitely better off with Rivers and Stafford under center than anyone else currently available.
I'm a little worried about the lack of a downfield threat.
As the 49ers D showed yesterday, they can jam the WRs at the line, take away the quick screens and outs, and pressure Rodgers.
Green Bay's D won't be facing a such struggling passing offense every week, allowing them to stack the box...
I haven't been too interested in watching the Badgers last two games against cupcakes, but I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do against a B1G opponent tomorrow.
On Wisconsin!
I might take a flyer on Vick for the Thursday night - Sunday am two-game daily lineup on DK.
I'm not taking him for my main matchups this weekend or my season long leagues.
I think people are putting to much thought into the words of a back-up QB.
Nobody in any position of authority would make a rational case to support Tolzien's claim. I'm sure its got some mindless talking heads yapping away, however.
Any concerns about Kaepernick this weekend?
I know he looked bad last week, but he's had the Packers number. Capers can't seem to reign in mobile QBs and Kaepernick has had games where they made him look super human both passing and running.
I can't vote, but I'd say its a combination.
Unless he ended up in Seattle, then they'd find a way to misuse him horribly and turn him into the next Zach Miller.
