What if another team offers something with 'equal' draft points, but we have to take the deal before Cleveland picks? Do we take it?

If it depends on how far we drop down (Round 1 only), say Carolina? What if it is in the 12 to 16 range?

It would depend on the offer. I think teams will try and low ball us with the "there is no clear #2 pick talent wise", someone most always cracks and gives up what is fair from a "equal" points perspective but if not, I still say go Thomas unless Garrett is there. Our D line would be young and scary for the next few years with either pick.

if any team gives us equal value in draft points, but we have to take the deal now, do we do it? it could be any team (except Cleveland) and the lower they pick, the more they're offering (including 2018 picks).

Do we take the deal or wait to see if Garrett goes first? Because if we wait to see what Cleveland does and they do take Garrett, we no longer get offers at equal points. Or unlikely to get offers at equal points, for those who think we will irregardless.

BTW - don't think anyone would argue the 'always cracks', IF there was a #2 pick worthy of #2? But from ALL the things we've read to now, there isn't anyone people are certain is worth #2 overall. No one hyped as worthy of #2 overall.

Sorry I was inferring that if there was a consensus #2 pick we could wait until the Browns do what they're going to do but there really isn't unless we get some inside information that a team is clamoring over someone at 2. If I'm Lynch, I wait it out until the day before the draft.

With his latest drug uncovering.....wouldn't be surprising to see him still available.

Wouldn't complain at all of course, but just don't see this playing out? Agree he can fall with this latest issue added on, but not THAT far.

Another scenario would be teams trading up into late Round 1, to draft him.

Didn't that Dallas OG fall all the way to the 6th round? Collins? After being considered somewhere lower 1/upper 2?

ok.

Its a tough call but for me can't help play the odds. The odds are high that Cleveland drafts Garrett, despite the smoke screen with Trubiskey. So i'd take the deal - whomever team - now at equal draft points.

It is also my opinion that any offer after Cleveland chooses, will be much less than equal draft points. That said, doesn't necessarily mean i wouldn't trade down, but we won't get equal points.

Round Overall Player Notes
1 2 Traded to Cleveland
1 12 OLB Haason Reddick from Cleveland*
2 33 CB Adoree' Jackson from Cleveland*
2 34 QB Davis Webb
3 66 CB Sidney Jones
4 108 WR Carlos Henderson from Cleveland*
4 109 Traded to Tampa Bay
4 143 OG Zach Banner
5 146 Traded to Kansas City
5 161 OT Dan Skipper from Washington
5 180 SS Xavier Woods from Kansas City*
6 198 DE Josh Carraway from Baltimore
6 202 RB Aaron Jones from Denver
7 219 WR Artavis Scott from Cleveland

The above mock is Cleveland trading up from #12. This is 'equal' draft points so i'd think the majority of us would take this deal right now? But i don't like these positions being drafted up high. Don't think we need two MORE CB's within the first 3 rounds?! Round 2 looks too high for Davis Webb?

Do like trading the 4th for a 3rd next year. Also like trading the 5th for a lower 5th, PLUS a 5th next year. Trading it for a 4th in 2018, would've been even better.

[We'd get two 2nd rounders in 2018]

Not sure I would want to trade back that far, but if they were, I would rather take a QB then (assuming Trubisky or Watson are available). I wouldn't take Webb in the 2nd though.

I would also considering trading back into the 1st with our 2nd and 3rd, if there was someone worth getting.

I was really hoping they would make a trade with Carolina and then snag Foster, but his red flags are putting me off and he would be a guy I would get if he is there in the 2nd.

New Smoke screen for us. i think this is a target at the Jets.
49ers looking at Watson at #2.

I hope this doesn't happen. It better be smoke screen.

If no one nationally is hyping a QB as a worthy #2 pick, why would the Jets? People are projecting Trubisky at #2, but this doesn't mean they think he's a worthy #2.

We could still trade down with anyone, just not get the 'draft haul' we want. What a hard luck situation, we have the #2 overall pick, but there is no top QB(s), and only one top Pass Rusher.

If Cleveland picks Trubisky then we need to run to the podium with a contract and take Garrett!!:)

Yeah, i'd still draft Garrett.

IF Cleveland really does like Trubisky that much, it makes sense to draft both. Those are the two positions with the most value. They would trade up from #12 to #2, but since they must know the 49ers aren't interested in Trubisky (as interested), they don't have to give up equal points?

Can't help think Lynch isn't going to hold out for equal draft points? If we're going to swing a deal for #2, seems like we'd get the most from Cleveland?

Agree. They are either trying to get Cleveland to draft Trubisky No. 1 or trying to get them to over pay to jump up from No. 12. I'd be fine with either scenarios, especially if it gets them a first next year as well.

Yes, that's true. Maybe also to get other teams interested in Trubisky to make a deal with us for the #2 pick like what happened last year with Goff and Wentz

I'm not sure I agree that the #12,#33, #108 and #219 is equal value, even if one of the two 2nd round picks is from Cleveland next year in this years draft it is only worth about 265 points and with the picks shown that is still 638.2 point difference so in reality even two 2nd round picks isn't going to be equal value.

Not sure i'm reading the above right, cause i recall the deal is for TWO 2nd round picks in 2018.

Anyway, thats ok because it depends on what chart you use? Plus, even if your chart shows it is short, i would take that deal. IMO no one else is going to come close to this deal.
