Yet Florida remains a hotbed for our recruits.

2007 this team had 75 players from WV or a state bordering WV
2016 this team had 68 players from WV or a state bordering WV

I tell you what those guys are killing us with the "parents can't see you play" tactic......
It is doing MUCH more recruiting damage than the state of the coaches contract extension......think if you were a kid, which would enter into your thoughts more? My family can see me play, or a different coach may be here in two years???? Coaches change all the time.....

I see some middle ground there.athletes when on campus can make a connections with a Dean or Professor or another coach..I have said it before..my niece is an Tutors for the Athletic Program..2 of her students ..a couple of the Basketball players who do not get much playing time and could transfer decided to ride it out knowing that that she can help them achieve a degree knowing full well the likelihood of them going pro is minimal..

I have supported evidence that makes your claims false...the numbers do not lie. I have given numbers on how kids think and it is not that much better than when we were playing many teams within driving distance.

Sounds like excuses for a coach who cannot recruit high school kids, has a contract issue, cannot convince kids to leave their home state and come to a backwards ass state like WV.

Good thing he is the best JUCO recruiter since Bill.

DC, take a closer look at the WVa, OH, and PA kids coming to WVU now compared to "then" specifically look at the "also offered by" column, you will see a pretty significant difference.

What the fuck does this mean?

From just the past two recruiting classes... every single kid WVU signed from WV or neighboring states... including MD... were offered by schools playing in the B1G and ACC.

In fact, our highest rated recruits were offered by top teams across the country including Bama, UGA, ND, OU and FSU.

You said that it is hurting us with kids close because "their families could not see them play" which i proved was just not accurate.

Now your argument is it is hurting the kind of player we get from those neighboring state?! Come on man....we are getting some very solid talent out of bieghgoring states...

Sample of players we are recruiting close to home:

Gary Jennings VA (Notre Dame, Wisconsin, UNC, Tenn)
Shelton Gibson OH (Ohio State, Tenn, Auburn)
Terrell Chestnut PA (Mich, MichST, Boston College, Penn State)
Nick Kwiatkoski PA (What a find....only had offers from BC and Bowling Green) Guess he has been able to find talent as well
Tyler Orlosky OH (Great Find Northwestern, Bowling Green, Akron)
Daryl Worley PA (Tenn, Maryland, Kuse, Pitt)
Adam Pankey PA (Tenn, Lville, NC State, Pitt)
Darrien Howard PA (Pitt, LVille,Kentucky, NC ST)
William Crest MD (Va Tech, Virginia, Maryland)
Dragon Henry PA (Penn St, Mich, FSU, Tenn Ohio St)

Looks like we go against the same teams we have always gone against and finding same success...I bet we have always had guys on our commit list that had schools like Bowling Green, Ohio, and Akron listed.

Now if your hate for the head coach has gotten to the point you are going to start comparing teams that recruited players from then to now I plead with you to find medical attention... cause you done lost it

Many of these kids don't get offers from the bigger schools till they shine and others have committed to other schools, then they start picking up offers from the big schools, some of these we are just the first to offer.

I have always wondered why a kid that is offered by Ohio State is a four star kid, but if the kid commits to Marshall he is suddenly only a two star????????

I know we all kick around the ratings..honestly I am not sure how they can tag EVERY single player with a proper rating...I know its all about Rivals and Scouts camps but sometimes like an SAT test things don't go your way maybe that day or days..I am sure coaches see it to some degree that way to. They can't scout them all and have to rely on these camps...

But I think a program needs to be known for something to get the BEST AVAILABLE at that position..for Wv I have always thought it to be RB and DB.. with WR and LB not too far behind...

I've always wondered about the overall the ratings...what competition did the kid play against for 4 years?...

I know some are without a doubt a MONSTER Homerun...like the Oliver kid at Houston...and I am sure MOST 5 stars are locks...but the 4 and 3 stars...just don't know how they get their ratings..

Better talent in the state will help us out big time. Now Holgs needs to build a wall around the state and sign these guys.

Every coach who has come through WVU had to do it without in state talent. Why is it so important that Dana HAS to do it? Even with a 20 year contract and a huge raise. Are we expecting that West Virginia will pump out at least 10 top rated players every year? While it is good to see the State getting recognition doesn't mean that every kid would want to stay in the State.
