Lol. You're right. The guy thought well diciplined meant that they get punished well after messing up and spent the rest of this thread trying to tap dance his way out of it.

Or, maybe I think being punished and having consequences is what causes a team to be well disciplined. Thus when I look at the first sentence of the article where the player was suspended and has consequences for his actions, on top of it being something that team discipline isn't even remotely a factor - I find his comment to be absurd.

Wait and see. They had that gymnastics doctor there for decades. Obviously others knew, just like PSU.

Former MSU doctor Larry Nassar faces 22 new sexual assault charges

Nassar worked for decades with Michigan State University and with USA Gymnastics. The university fired him in September.

Nassar, 53, of Holt, was charged in November with three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. The charges relate to instances in his home between 1998 to 2005 with a child who is now a woman in her 20s.

Those charges carry maximum sentences of life in prison.

Nassar also faces three federal charges for obtaining, possessing or destroying child pornography images or video. An FBI agent testified in December that computers and hard drives found on Nassar's property in Holt contained at least 37,000 images or videos of child xxxx, as well as videos that showed Nassar sexually assaulting young girls in a swimming pool.

I have no clue on that shit.

Michigan State might want to look at their prescreening process before they offer, but they aren't trying to cover things up and are disciplining the ones involved.

I'm enjoying watching 4D20 defend Michigan State and Michigan fans act like committing on the field penalties leads to sexual assaults off the field.

Yeah, that part in particular is pretty hilarious.

Weeeeeeeee. Let's talk in more circles.

I don't even know what the fuck this is supposed to mean considering discipline is what you do in response to the wrong things players do, not a preventive measure.

Figured I would quote your original comment. You've been talking in circles for so long, I'm sure you've forgotten already what you said.

I think my favorite part is......discipline is not a preventative measure. Just so I get this right, you've been talking about discipline as punishment the entire time, yet in your mind, it doesn't prevent the actions of anybody? Just so I understand completely -- if you are one of 100+ guys and you see a guy get kicked off the team for doing 'x'. You don't think it will stop others from doing 'x'? :L

If that is the case -- what is the point of disciplining anybody ever?

And FYI -- this isn't even the type of discipline I was talking about. Just wanted to point out how humorous it was that you were confused by my comment, when THAT is what you said. :pound:

If it were one case -- I'd agree. When it is a guy spitting in a cop's faces, guys calling teammates 'n****r', guys sleeping with sisters of teammates, multiple sexual assault cases, coaches being suspended and 15 other guys suspended for the Spring Game.

That is a team turning into a dumpster fire, after the team prided itself with its conduct on and off the field for many years.

So you think Dantonio's philosophies are now all of the sudden different?

My guess is he's the same coach, the players are not. There is no amount of discipline that will prevent some kid from sexually assaulting someone.

That about sums it up.

You can run as tight a ship as possible, but there's always that one jerk who doesn't like to abide by the rules.

My personal opinion, and it is nothing more than opinion. I think the players bought into the culture he built within the program and in year's past, they were happy and winning, so they continued to buy in.

I think this past year, they lacked senior leadership, the team was struggling tremendously and the players quit caring.

Also -- the sexual assault was only one instance. 4 different players and a coach have been suspended in two different sexual assaults. Spitting in the cops face wa another suspension. A white player calling a black player a 'n****r' was another incident. Having 15 other players 'red locked' and not being allowed to dress for the spring game is another incident or incidents (refused to answer why they were in trouble).

It isn't one sexual assault. It is one incident after another for the football team. And the school as a whole has been dealing with headline after headline after headline with former bball players (r*pe, domestic violence), the school doctor charged with molesting like 100 gymnasts.

Obviously these aren't Dantonio issues, but MSU has been dealing with negative press here for the better part of the year.

Dantonio's soul was crushed when after all their success, nobody cared, and still treated him and them like a second rate team to MI. Especially once Harbaugh showed up.

With his obliterated spirit, the team went to shit with him.

I think he knows he will always be 2nd fiddle in state to UM and 2nd fiddle in his own school to basketball.

My opinion is just that and nothing more -- I think, like Harbaugh's stint in SF, the players bought in to Dantonio and the culture he built around the team. I think once the winning stopped, many players gave up and quit caring. I think that is why the product on and off the field looked nothing like year's past.

Hope all is well with your twins.

I have no clue on that shit.
I haven't paid too close attention to it but let me give you the SparkNotes version of what I understand.

For the worse part of two decades a doctor for the MSU Women's gymnastics (possibly also the US gymnastics as well) team was molesting girls and despite concerns being made to the coaching staff nothing was done. The guy is a sick fuck, I wouldn't say it was as bad as Sandusky, only because of the age of the victims. The level of incompetence that borderlines on being complicit, in my opinion, is on par with Sandusky. Fire anyone who had any knowledge of these incidents and did not bring them to the proper authorities and bring them up on accessory charges and whatever else you can throw the book at them with.
