Anybody here cook down maple syrup before? This is my second year at it. I have so much to learn still. But one thing I know is I like the end product.

Takes about 40 gallons of sap to make one gallon of syrup. Slowly simmer off the water.

I've only done it in a sugar house with a big (5' x 20') pan that allows sap to be added one one side while syrup is drain off the other 20' away. sap feed rate is controlled to match the temp.

The kid could be an outstanding Canadian if that's the direction he chose in life.

He's been a champ at all the farm stuff and just a nice kid. He should make a good dad some day.
