Holy over-reaction batman. It's Texas po-po. Wait a few days to see if the charges get dropped.

It's not like he killed a nun or something here.

I don't think so. If it was his 1st offense then ya but it is his second.

And not a huge asset to the team

All I'm saying is don't jump to conclusions. AGAAAAAIN, it's Texas law enforcement. Shenanigans are kinda assumed to be possible. Not saying there will BE shenanigans, but we may want to be a bit patient for a few days/weeks before we tar and feather the kid.

I tend to agree. I think it's a bit premature to assume the team will cut him after this. Let all the facts come to the surface and wait until the emotion wears off, and there's really no reason to make a move with him until at least the draft.

It does give me reason to be concerned about his judgment and character though, especially if you couple it with the legal brush he had in college that got him suspended for his final game. This guy already had a black mark on his record, and here he is riding in a car with a presumably drunk driver and also in possession of a drug that is against the law federally and in the state of Texas as well as being a banned substance in the NFL.

Yeah we should take a wait see approach, but it is concerning, because like you said his background.

I just can't see the Hawks investing in him after this incident... Who knows though, like you said, we'll wait and see...

His contract is for $450k/yr. It's an awfully low investment. I am not saying he won't be cut, but I don't think it's anywhere close to a slam dunk.

In possession of an illegal drug.

In fairness, even in Texas, possession of small amounts of Mary-Jane, is usually just handled by arresting officers confiscating, and everyone going on their merry way. If this had been some coeds from SMU out driving around in a ragtop BMW, that's almost certainly how it would have been handled.

Question still remains, how did HE handle the interaction with the cops? If he escalated things, then yeah, he's going to get charged.

I was more speaking to "Time" as the investment... Do they want to continue to invest time into knowing that he is a head case? Or would they prefer to bring someone else in with a better head on their to invest their time in for the same salary...

That's usually where that stuff goes south. I've seen some guys on the general football board talk about how tight ass the cops are in Texas and/or where he got busted, but I think it's much more likely they snatched him up because he made a wrong move (with his mouth) during the engagement with the cops.

And I guess the assumption here is that they think he is a headcase. He isn't accused of any violent crime, and he hasn't been in trouble before as a Seahawk. At this point, he really doesn't have anything more against him than Frank Clark does.

Difference is, a high draft pick was made on Clark, believing he would eventually be the starter...

Oh, there more are more differences than that too. I was just comparing rap sheets. Before we put Boykin in a category labeled "headcase no longer worth an investment" I think it's ok to pin down the true severity of what he's done.
