Ok you keep him. This isn't college any more. If he was 1/2 as productive last year as he was in college he would've earned his salary. At this point if I had to keep a roster spot for him or release him, I'm releasing him. He wasn't on the field enough to value him the way you are. He's likely not going anywhere so I pray he proves me wrong.

BTW JE wasn't a returner in college unlike your boy Cyrus. Not only did Cryrus not hold onto the ball, one of Bill's priorties but his decision making was horrendous. Part of the reason BB selected him was for his ST abilities.

Bookmarked: Next time I think Alabama fans are somewhat ignorant with stupid expectations and knee jerk reactions I'm going to read this to remind me that it could be worse.

BB picked Ryan, Ebner, Harmon, and McCourty, all solid members of the last 2 Superbowl winning teams.
Richards and Jones will get their chances......
Well we can disagree on a few of those players. Ryan was terrible trying to cover on the outside. He turned it around once they had him covering the slot. Enber is a nice ST player but that's all. Harmon the jury is still out on him.

Call me crazy for expecting a player who was hyped to be a returner and cover guy to at least be on the active roster for more than 3/4 of the Year. So many players drafted after him that contributed to their team this year. Just goes to show you even BB can swing and miss.

You are crazy for suggesting that a 2nd round draft pick should be released after a rookie year they played a good portion of.

Fair enough. We'll revisit this conversation next year. If he's still on the team.

The fact of the matter is the Patriots are pretty good at handling their personnel and they obviously don't agree with you.

Yes, because they've never kept a player who under performed. As I said we can revisit next year.

Just a quick question. Are you related to Jones?

Yeah, because you know better than the Patriots staff.

The title caught my attention because he's a former Alabama player. But that has nothing to do with your knee jerk reactions and crazy expectations.

I never said I know better than the NE staff, but obviously you are an expert on evaluating talent, lack there of and or players that become head cases and can't compete at the pro level. Or be succesful in certain schemes.
I also mentioned early on that he was touted as a very good talent comjng out of school. Unfortunately, it was all hype at this point. I also mentioned I hope I'm proven wrong. But, I'm betting I won't be. Ryan Leaf says hello.

I'm not an expert at anything other than recognizing the people who are paid millions of dollars to do their jobs and are actually around him full time know things better than I do.

And I think his little quotes up there means he himself thinks he underperformed, so that's not even in question. I commented about your knee jerk reaction that he should be released, which was downright stupid even if he doesn't work out next year.

Keep trying to move them goalposts though.

Whoa I struck an emotional chord with a certain someone.
So you consider after watching a player for a year and having a negative opinion is "knee jerk"? That's funny. Maybe you can slow those goal posts down for me sparky.

"Cornerback Cyrus Jones, the Patriots’ top 2016 draft choice (60th overall) who had a rocky first year, is hoping to spark a turnaround in 2017. To do so, I’m told he has been training hard in New Jersey, with the goal to return to the club’s offseason program next month and, as someone close to him explained, “getting back to what the Patriots drafted him to be, a significant part of the team.”

Well let's hope so. I'm not holding my breath. I've said I hope to be proved wrong time will tell. Funny how quotes can be interpreted. "Getting back to" would imply you were once there?

I tend to be more "positive" than you. I still have high hopes......

Hope he does turn it around and is not just the latest Aaron Dobson.
Full of potential and some great preseason....only to be (finally) cut with much to show.

We neeed to recognize potential is still there but also realize there is no reason to expect anything better. If he turns into what he should there's a bonus... If he doesn't we still have a SB for 2016. Call it a mistake if you like, but it's been offset by so many other good decisions like getting high first round value from an undrafted free agent.

Scenario:
Cyrus sucks all year and gets put on returns in the playoffs, runs back 4 for touchdowns in the playoffs. Injury takes out a CB in the AFCCG and Cyrus starts the Superbowl - makes 2 pick 6's and Brady wins the SB MVP!

In your scenario, is powerball delayed until Sunday that week and you win powerball on Super Bowl Sunday?

Hope he does better next year.
He seems to really care and that makes a big difference in how coach-able he is.
