Dunno how a game could be so ugly yet so entertaining at the same time but.... It was.

Esa and Nate were terrible tonight. That last 30 seconds of "offense"....:L
Good season, sweet 16 appearance, but the last minute last night left me sick. When Miles missed the two free throws with about a minute left and a one point lead, allowing Gonzaga the easy three in transition, it cost us the game. On a horrible shooting night from the floor, WVU actually shot from the line fairly well, except when it counted. That last twenty seconds was ugly, but it didn't cost the game. It was set up for us to get to the final 4, but just couldn't make a shot last night. Great effort, great hustle, there are better teams and better players out there, but this WVU team is as hard a playing team as I have ever seen!!

The last 35 seconds of the game reveal some poor coaching. That scenario should have been rehearsed so hard the kids go into auto mode.

Instead, we have kids in total chaos mode.

Like I've said... over... and over... and over... WVU basketball will go as far as guard play allows.

Phillip and Miles Jr were fucking terrible. 4 for 22 combined.

This team did not deserve to advance...

Maybe Huggs will recruit some talent at guard. Or, there will be a ceiling that can't be broken...

They lost, but I can handle a loss like this, they went down fighting, never gave up.

Ceiling? There should be none with an elite school like WVU.....not to mention a future hall of fame coach.

Yeah... I agree.

Talent... gotta have it. Or, HOF coaches don't get to raise the ceiling...

I still think that this team was one Devin Williams away from something really special. Imagine having a big guy in there last night who cold play with their bigs. Great effort and give credit where it is deserved. This team was physically outmatched by Gonzaga. Yet, we were in the lead with a minute to go in the game.

Everyone except Adrian comes back next year. If we develop another big, learn to shoot FTs at crunch time, we may get to the finals.

BTW Kansas looked really good last night. Ill be glad to see Jenkins and Mason go to the NBA.

Well even the greats have bad times.....the last possession was some bad basketball....do I think it lost us the game no....poor FT shooting lost us the game IMO. This team was solid and it was fun watching them play, I don't think the better team won last night.

Williams would have made this team a hell of a lot better....still shaking my head as to why he left made no sense.

Devin Williams left to start making a living. Why is that hard to understand? His mom was living with him in Morgantown because his apartment was provided by WVU.

Devin was a great rebounder, but he changed the flow of the offense... and he was no rim protector. I'm unsure how much better the team would have been with him.

Lost to the #1, seed, a team that had lost one game, a team that was #1 in the polls a lot of the season, in their end of the nation by three.........wow. The game was NOT lost in that chaos, as bad as it was, it was lost by Miles missing throws free throws, then the EASY three in transition, make the free throw, they have to inbound into the teeth of our defense. I give Gonzaga's defense a LOT of credit, they affected shots all evening. I am excited for next year, as I always am!!!

I never said the game was lost in the chaos of the last 35 sec's. I said chaos in the last 35 sec. was the result of poor coaching.

This game was not lost by Miles missing two FT's. It was lost because of poor overall shooting. WVU was terrible from everywhere.

Give me a break...

This team should have won last night. Gonzaga, unlike football, got the #1 seed based on record, not so much schedule. I wasn't impressed with their bigs and feel Devin could have helped Adrian with the inside game on both sides of the ball. Ahmad plays in spurts and doesn't handle the ball well but I expect him to be a good one by his senior year. Konate plays with passion but needs to control it. Another potentially good one. The 2 6'11" Freshman need to be ready for next season.

There is NO WAY that this team should have lost last night. BB always mentioned about the guard play. I still contend that you cannot press the entire game for an entire season. You also cannot have stretches where you miss 15 out of 18 shots. At this level, your guards cannot dribble out the clock after launching 3 bricks in a row. As for the future HOF HC, I extend his contract at least 2 years, depending on how his ticker is, and have the same language Luck had in it making Huggy a Mountaineer for life. My expectation would be that this team makes the Elite 8 with the team that is coming back. Let's see what No Balls says. Maybe Rusher can send his Homeboy my post to help him make a decision.

I seen this someplace else, but after I calmed down from being pissed off, it does sum up the last 35 seconds of the game.

The game was very MUCH lost by Miles missing those two free throws, WVU had a one point lead at the time, make both free throws, WVU up by three, Gonzaga must inbound into the teeth of the press, and does NOT get the easy transition three.
Yes the shooting was terrible, because two great defensive teams were on the court, both teams played a damn hard, physical game. The poor coaching was not keeping a time out in his pocket for drawing a play in that last half minute.
Give ME a break!!!!
BTW, have any of you "experts" even looked at the schedule Gonzaga played this year? You might want to take a look before just saying stupid things like record only.......

Does it make you feel better to make excuses for how much WVU sucked last night by making shit up?

The game would not have even been close had everyone not named Jevon Carter been able to make more than 10 shots... combined... for the entire fucking game!

kenpom.com had Gonzaga's schedule ranked #104. Sagarin #107. ESPN #92... that includes a non-con #45. WVU had what many considered a weak non-con... #79. WVU overall... #24 ESPN... #21 Sagarin... #18 kenpom.

I know you are an Engineer who doesn't believe in numbers, but I can find a whole lot of things other Miles's missed free throws. It wasn't the most convenient time, but he isn't the sole reason the lost. As I said, I wasn't impressed with Gonzaga but they did what was needed to win.

Chris Weber was comparing us to those UNLV teams from years ago, I loved watching those teams back in the day FTR and I LOVED that he used them (though we aren't on the same planet) and it got me thinking, it may be time to empty the wallet on some McDonalds All American HS kids for Huggs' final few seasons like UNLV did for Tark and get that guard and big man like you mention and go get him his national title. That's the name of the game these days, cheat/win/ deal with the toothless NCAA after the money and fame are made.

I agree. WVU needs to start cheating. Pay the big bucks to get kids to Morgantown like they do to get them to Lexington... Lawrence...

Then we can hang the banner we cherish the most from the catwalk. Otherwise... we're stuck with participation trophies...

Some garbage officiating in that game. Refs gave the Zags a 6 minute time out at one point, and SOMETHING should have been called on the charge/block no call when the Zags had the ball, Adrian also got killed on the layup near the end of the game and....swallowed the whistle.

Refs have a tough job, but change could be beneficial
