Yeah I can see that. Kap wouldn't be good at Shanahan offense. Im happy with Hoyer. Last year avg about 300 yards a game 6 TD and 0 Ints with a bad Bears team. The guy can bridge the gap.
Why not. We can lose just as well with Hoyer as we can with Kaepernick and he's much cheaper.

Yeah this team won't be very good next year and if by some miracle they do start playing well things need to go such a way that they lose more games than the win and get a top 2 pick so they can get Darnold or Rosen next year.

Darnold can't come out next year; he's only a freshman this year. If the Niners are well-coached and get a little lucky, they could win 4 games next year.

I'll take "lucky" to mean 2 draft picks doing well, plus a few more contributing in certain roles. So ok, at this point winning 4 games is very reasonable.

I'd like to think 5-6 but still time to get optimistic. :-)

I think 4 would be the absolute max. We'd have to get really lucky. The team is completely devoid of talent on both sides of the ball.

Everything I've read says Darnold is eligible for 2018.

I'm a little more optimistic regarding 'talent level'. While most might say our talent level is an "F", i'm thinking "D". So yes, no doubt we certainly need to upgrade the talent level, no disputing that. But it is also swayed a lot by not having one player, the QB.

Say everything was the same today except we DID have Cousins, would we be thinking 4 absolute max, or double that to 8? So now the question is.....is the additional four wins due to Cousins ALONE? I'd offer no because its a team game, some of those 4 wins are due to across the board talent level.

When Harbaugh took over, we all thought that team was "completely devoid of talent". But the talent came thru when they had a better coach, and better scheme (especially defense). I'm NOT saying this is the same situation, just saying the talent level looked worse with poor coaching/schemes.

Perhaps he was a red shirt freshman last year in which case he would be three years out of high school in 2018 and would thus be draft eligible. Being a big SC fan, I hope he stays in school.

I don't think Cousins would get us even close to 8 because we have no skill position players that would even make any other team except for Hyde and the Line is suspect. The defense has no leader and very little in the way of impact players.
As for Harbaugh taking over a team devoid of talent? I totally disagree. This team was loaded on defense and had some very good skill position players and an excellent O line.

That is were you are incorrect, he was recruited in the 2015 recruiting class and red shirted his first year of college. So by the end of this season he will be three years removed from High School and eligible for the NFL Draft.

As a big Notre Dame fan, hope he leaves for the 49ers.

:nono: I wasn't here for that one but you were all wrong if you thought that.

No, you are.

What? Are you like 12 years old with that response? When Harbs took over this team the talent was there dipshit. Maybe you and others who were on this site at the time didn't notice that but don't put all the fans into your blinded take of the situation then.

haaa, that is my first point, are YOU 12 years old? Look at YOUR response before mine. I only returned the same reply you gave me........well at least you got it now, i hope?

Harbaugh was a good coach but to say there was NO talent (dipchit) and we did well ONLY because of him, is ludicrous. Football is a huge team game and if the team was dipchit of talent, no way they even reach the play-offs, Harbaugh or no Harbaugh.

There WAS talent on that team, just that it wasn't used well by Singletary. Other than Aldon Smith, who did the 49ers add when Harbaugh took over? Who are these new talented guys that miraculously made that a SB team? The bulk of that team was ALREADY there, so there WAS talent. Justin Smith was there, Ray McDonald, Willis, Bowman, Alex Smith, Staley, Iupati, A. Davis, Goldson, etc. etc.
