1. Patriot's Day
2. Lion
3. Hacksaw Ridge (Would have been higher on the list had the writers not changed so much)
4. Rogue One
5. Captain America: Civil War
6. Deadpool
7. Doctor Strange
8. Gold
9. Snowden
10. The Accountant (a really dumb, but fun movie)

Kind of a slow year, but I've been looking through a lot of the ones I missed from this past year lately. Let me know your picks. I thought Jackie was a boring movie, and I didn't bother with Moonlight or La La Land.

Only good movies I've seen this year:

1. OJ Made in America (A)
2. Deadpool (B+)
3. The Nice Guys (B+)
4. 10 Cloverfield Lane (B)
5. Rogue One (B)
6. Hail Caesar! (B)
7. Jungle Book (B)

Haven't seen most of the contenders, to be honest. Greatly annoyed by Zootopia and bored by Civil War.

Civil War had it's flaws but I thought the good outweighed the bad. I felt like the set up could have been shorter, and the mind control thing is very cliche. But I thought the character motivations made sense.

Civil War was worth the price of admission for the airport scene but the entire plot is kinda crap in pretty much every way possible.

In Avengers 2, Captain America wants to work as a team and Tony wants to create an AI that can stand up to Aliens. Then after that fails, Tony decides that Aliens are no longer a threat? The government decides that Aliens are no longer a threat after they almost nuked a major American city?

I could go on but you've seen it so you know that its all a bit awkward. There are some really good moments but it was more of a civil disagreement than a civil war. And they killed Warmachine for some reason and then decided that he could survive the fall. And they introduced us to a whole bunch of Winter Soldiers for a buildup that wasn't there for a villain who had a plan that required a huge number of low probability things to go exactly right.

I hated Avengers 2 so I blocked that whole movie out of my mind. As a sequel to Winter Soldier, I think it does pretty well.

The plan for the villain was unlikely, maybe some sort of military background for him would have made more sense but I enjoyed the fact that he wasn't interested in classic supervillain cliches such as waking up the other Winter Soldiers. That would have been extremely obvious for the audience. I considered the villain refreshing.
