Dr. Carson didn't do anything wrong, but Eugene doesn't know that. I wouldn't be surprised if Negan knows Dr. Carson didn't do shit either, but he's all about fear=power.

Yeah, no question it was a warning to Eugene, that's why Negan told him to watch but my point is why waste a perfectly good doctor simply to make a point when they are not in abundance.

On a side note I am a big fan of Jeffery Dean Morgan but his character has become unbelievably annoying, the way he leans back when he says things, the fact that nearly everything is said as if it were meant to be funny has become almost impossible for me to watch.

Solid episode. Really don't mind lost episodes to story if there are payoffs at some point either with those slow building episodes or surprise tangents that make you forget how bad/boring some of the others were.

Eugene really is the type that will tell anyone what they need to hear for him to stay alive and thrive. He knows there isn't anyone else around that compound that can call him out on his lies and bullshit.

That walker falling apart was a nice touch. They do keep finding new ways of showcasing them and they are always welcome additions.

I think it's because we don't get enough Negan other than the Negan who is always trying to make a point.... To Rick, to Alexandria, to Carl, to Dwight, to the Compound. We haven't really just gotten Negan yet.

Negan and Eugene as friends is a bit formulaic, isn't it?

The HS PE teacher and the HS chemistry teacher. You would think Negan might actually recognize Eugene's BS HS chem demonstration if he were there, though. Eugene better be careful.

Great episode.. Eugene flipped so fast even Neegan seem surprised.

Of course if Rick and his group are victorious, he'll flip back just as quick.

I don't think he necessarily flipped.
Eugene is in survival mode.
He's going to do whatever it takes to live.
In the meantime, he will acquire information about the Saviors that will prove useful when the time comes.

He's found cracks in their armor with Negan's wives.
He's found cracks in their system of handing things out.
He saw the red head steal something, so he knows there are 'outliers' in the Saviors compound.

The only sad part was that I remember Yar's Revenge on the Atari 2600. Wonder if they had Kaboom!, but you needed the dial controller....

He's the best character in the comics tho. Lots happens

Sure.. He doesn't seem a person though who sticks his neck out until it's very clear who's on top. He also seemed to relish being in charge. He doesn't get that type of respect elsewhere.

The parallel between Daryl/Dwight and now Eugene is pretty cool. I wonder if Eugene will start having to do questionable stuff like Dwight did and how he will react. Like hypothetically if he has to start manufacturing stuff he knows will hurt Rick's group.

Can easily see Dwight picking her side, then helping Eugene to feed information to Rick's group on how to take down the Saviors.

I wasn't a huge fan of the episode. Maybe at the end of the world I need a little action.

Am I the one who saw the smile on Eugene's face walking away from Negan. Eugene is playing him but will survive.

Dwight will find himself again...and be fully against Negan.

I definitely think Eugene is playing the situation. He isn't necessarily being the brave spy to help Alexandria, though. He is just falling into HIS survival game, which is to peacock the shit out of his science skillz.

He refused to the wives because he was just shown by Negan that nobody is safe, no matter what he might tell you to your face. Eugene notices that the only way to survive is to surrender. However, I think he realized that true respect (what he was getting in Alexandria) is much more rewarding than fake respect (what he got from Abe and Rosita and what he is now getting from Negan and the saviors). But he doesn't have the cards right now to play the resist hand, so he is playing the only hand at his disposal right now (surrender).

Yeah, I don't think Eugene is playing this shrewd, calculated long con against the Saviors, he's playing the exact role he did when Abe and Rosita (back when be was a fox) were escorting him to D.C., survival.

He's definitely gathering intel that will help Rick and Co. when the fight begins, but I doubt he's going to go as far as creating a thermal exhaust port. I'll bet he's going to have to do some fucked up shit before it's all said and done.

They might have another Doctor. I don't think Negan meant Eugene when he said they have a spare Dr. Carson. He's not a medical doctor, after all. Negan was just trying to send a message that no one is above the rules, no matter what your skill set is.

Even if Eugene and Negan's wives had succeeded, there'd just be another Negan to take his place. He's created a system that won't be so easily torn down. The only way to stop them is to crush their morale and strength.

I did think it was a good episode. It's the first time in a while that I was actually interested in an episode from beginning to end. Even if I was reminded that Negan had the reaction time to stop a bullet with a wooden baseball bat. We learned almost nothing about the way the saviors operate from Daryl's time there since he refused to play ball and spent all of his time there in confinement. It was interesting to see, and you could understand why people put up with Negan's way of doing things, Doctor Carson was a great example of how a person could consider living in a community like that.

Humans are capable of anything when it comes to survival.

Well he mentioned playing Warlords with the ladies because four players could play... Warlords used the dial too, so he must have them.
