Started compiling player stats for 2017. Of course, for some calculations I need TEAM stats.

The chart below ranks teams on their passing plays.
The percentage of pass plays vs rushing plays is in the first set of columns.
Then the way those passes are DISTRIBUTED to the RB, WR and TE positions (and how they rank) are in the next set of columns.

Red means the team is in the bottom 5 of the NFL.
Green means the team is in the top 5 of the NFL.

The Ravens had the highest percentage of pass plays.
That's an over-simplification of that number.
Did you see that the Patriots are in the bottom 5?

All of the percentages are based on the plays each team calls.
The Ravens had 679 pass attempts versus 367 rush attempts.
(Despite this, the Ravens were also one of the worst at passing to their own WR. That's the real stat that should jump out.)
And the Patriots had 550 pass attempts versus 482 rush attempts. Nearly even. Nice balance.

But I will take your suggestions into consideration.

can you add total snap ranks too. Without it it may be misleading.
The NFL average in offensive snaps is 988.
Most all teams are within range of that when you talk about that many.
The team with the lowest offensive snaps was the Dolphins with 883. (Yep, the 10-6 Dolphins.)
The team with the highest offensive snaps was the Saints with 1078.

I understand. I was more shocked that the Ravens had the highest percentage of pass plays because they have always been a run heavy team. It always surprises me when I see the percentage for teams like the Ravens Steelers and Titans because of their past history.

Well your instinct was still correct. The Ravens were 4th in RB Receiving% and 30th in WRs.

Love the stats and chart Joe. Interesting how few teams had more rushing plays then passing.

Here's a new chart! (Or group of charts.)

This shows the top 10 at each position in the categories of (from left to right) ALL-PURPOSE YARDS per Game (passing + rushing + receiving); Fantasy Points per Game (ESPN standard scoring); and the Offensive Snap Percentage (which is the percentage of plays that player is on the field).

Nice work Joe. Be interesting to see who sinks and who rises next season. Won't mind seeing them stay the same, course that won't happen.

Thanks Harold.

I should have noted that there is an asterisk.
I get my Snap% information from Fantasy Outsiders.

For some reason, all of the LA Rams' snap percentages do not show up for the season. (Or show as #N/A, which generally means there is a mathematical error on their end.)
So I took the offensive lineman with the most snaps as a basis and did the math myself.
Based on this unofficial number, Todd Gurley was on the field for 73.8% of the snaps. That would put him 3rd for all RB but he is NOT shown on the chart.

NEW.
This chart shows the per game touch percentage leaders (top 20) per position.
Note that the per game touch percentages are based on each team's play calls. Not based on a league average.

Gronk isn't on here due to those games where he "played" but didn't run routes or catch any passes.
Has to crush his averages since he only played in handful on top of that.

Not really seeing any surprises on the RB side, maybe Blount being so close to 20% of the Pats touches since they spread it around so much.

Mike Thomas, Pryor, and Tavon Austin are the biggest surprises for me at WR.

Hey Joe, this is pretty good stuff. Just starting to look more closely at it, but my first impulse is to agree with Monkey about Blount, although when you consider the outcome, it makes sense.

Me likey Stefon Diggs in the future.

On a totally different note, when the hell did Sam Bradford turn 29? Seems like yesterday he was LA's next big hope.

Good stuff, sir. Your dedication is admirable. I agree with whomever it was that said you should be paid for this.

Hey. Now I'm starting from the top.

This is really good stuff.

And I see it was @TREFF who suggested that this should be your means of employment.

I agree.

Mike Thomas, Pryor, and Tavon Austin are the biggest surprises for me at WR.

The first two don't surprise me that much, and Austin makes sense, if you think about it. They needed someone to breakout/shine in that offense, and Austin really was it. Try to get 'im the ball. I guess Pryor might be the same.

Gronk isn't on here due to those games where he "played" but didn't run routes or catch any passes.
I suppose. But you figure this is based on a "per game" average not to mention that I have the top 20 TE listed - a group that Gronk usually dominates! And STILL no Gronk? Officially he had 2.4% of the Patriots' touches.

Not really seeing any surprises on the RB side, maybe Blount being so close to 20% of the Pats touches since they spread it around so much.
Ajayi surprised me.
Seems like he was pretty quiet at the beginning of the season. So to average 19.2% per game of all of Miami's play calls spread across 15 games is pretty significant to me.
