What a disaster, and such a good commercial with Christoph Waltz too...

One of our employees got an advanced unit before the public and still has it. He said he was given a choice of the recall up front. They told him it was batteries from a specific vendor that were the problem and for some reason they did not have a record of which battery was in which units. How you don't have that information I don't know, but what a cluster fuck to be sure. He's going to get a new phone and send his back, but it's going to take a few weeks.

amazing that they don't know based on serial number what major components are in each unit.

I don't think they're telling the truth there. I read an article today where they said the handsets with batteries made in China were all fine. It's too bad for the note because generally that is a really solid phone. I was thinking about getting one but I'm going to settle for the Google Pixel XL that is coming out October 4th.

Yeah, too bad for Samsung. The current galaxy lineup seems to be the best it gets right now, the Note 7 seems like a slightly upgraded s7 edge with a stylus and all the features that come with that. Bad timing for issues with it.

They pushed their suppliers too hard to get out ahead of Apple's release and it literally blew up in their faces.

A Note without the battery issues is a pretty neat device and the phones with larger screens have grown on me. I wouldn't mind having one at all but it wouldn't be my first choice.

i don't really like the "larger" screens. I mean that just means the screen most likely be bigger but the phone itself is bigger which no one needs.

It's all a matter of personal preference. I have a Note 2 and it fits nicely in the inside coat pocket and I love the big screen. Makes it easier to put your finger tip where you mean to on the screen.

Yeah this is true. But I like the phones they way they are now.. Decent size screens and very light weight and can pretty much fit anywhere

The standard screens these days are 5" and the larger ones are 5.5" and a few of the Android phones are slimmer than the iPhone is. The big difference is going to be what kind of case someone puts on it if they choose to. Something like an Otterbox is going to triple the size of the phone at least for either size and make the phone pretty bulky. The same thing goes for those cases with the extra battery. I like mine to be pretty minimalist and both sizes of phones are pretty manageable to store in a front pocket.

I had to laugh when on my flights last week Delta made the announcement that if you have one of these phones you should not use or charge it during flight.

The day Samsung decided to become more "apple-like" and removed the SD card and external battery was the day I started upgrading to LG phone.

Shame on them for embedding themselves with the phone companies. "Hey, my phone will no longer hold a charge." "Good news, you're eligible for an upgrade today!". How convenient ....

They make an ok washer and dryer. TV's are near the top of the line.

After Note 6, I was planning to buy Note 7. Good thing the news came out before it's too late!
