Profar keeps saying he wants to play SS everyday next year and unless EA is moved, that isn't likely IMO. I wonder if he isn't the one moved now? It will be interesting to see how many of the guys you mentioned we retain as well. I would like to retain as many pitching prospects as possible due to the lack of much depth in our system
I think some in the media made a little too much out of what Profar said. I am sure he wants to play SS, but the media made it sound like it was something akin to a play me or trade me scenario and just reading what he said without commentary from the media I didn't get that at all.

I read another piece today on the Rangers site where he was asked about learning the OF and he was quoted as saying, "it is fine for now, but as I said the other day, I want to be playing SS everyday somewhere next year."

He really is blocked at every position so to get playing time he has to learn positions that are not his strength. That is a tough call on whether to use him as a trade chip or keep trying to find a place for him to play. But as we all have stated any team gets 1 of Profar or Gallo. To me Maz is off the table.

Rangers' Nick Martinez: Skips Triple-A start Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Martinez will not pitch for Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday, as he could be used in a major league start Tuesday, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Kyle Lohse is currently slated for that start, but isn't guaranteed to make the turn in the rotation after allowing seven runs over 4.1 innings in his last start. Martinez is the other pitcher in consideration for the turn, but the 25-year-old hasn't had much success in the majors himself this season, allowing 16 runs on 30 hits and 15 walks over 22.1 innings this season.

I no this is not baseball related but since it is late I just want to say I know athletes prepare a long time to make the Olympic team for their country but if I was one of those athletes I would not go to Rio. Too bad a crooked organization like the IOC would even have given the games to this pit of a place.

ANAHEIM -- Rangers infielder Jurickson Profar has started taking fly balls in the outfield as a way to increase his versatility. Profar, who has already had crash courses this year on playing first and third base, is willing to give it a try.

"I told you guys, for me, this year, yes," Profar said. "Next year, I want to play shortstop somewhere."

Profar may get that chance sooner than next year as the Rangers have been getting "tons of calls" from other teams interested in acquiring him. Profar is open to a trade.

"I have no problem with that if it's going to make the team better," Profar said. "That means I'm playing very good. That makes me happy."

The Rangers aren't eager to trade Profar unless they can get a young starting pitcher with an equally high upside. Right now manager Jeff Banister is more concerned about finding additional ways to use Profar. He was not in the starting lineup Tuesday even though his .318 batting average is the highest on the team.

I would have a hard time going there, even if I was guaranteed a medal

So much for that thought.

I feel bad for the athletes who have to go there. My opinion for the olympics has always been " host them anywhere, but here". They have gone to some crazy places lately for sure. The Olympics committee gets away with murder, they charge a huge amount for the right to host the olympics and the host country rarely if ever benefits by recouping the cost.

I cant really blame him, its his natural position really and he missed a ton of time with the injury and just wants to play SS. Id rather move Elvis but.....

I wonder between guys like Ortiz, Tate, Mendez, Guzman, Cordell, and Sadzeck how many of those we will lose over the next few days?

Any deals involving young arms should be taboo, that's why we never develop our own, we trade them away before they become anything

The kid Torres who is supposedly the best prospect in the Cubs offer to the Yankees for Chapman is ranked by Baseball America 11 spots below Brinson.

He's extremely blocked, moreso than Profar I think, but still...

I still think moving Odor is the better move, unless he learns to take more than a walk a week between now and then

Think he's 19 and playing single A ball, but he's a top prospect. Might be awhile before he gets the big league call, but the Yankees probably move him to 3rd to replace Headley with Didi mannig SS so well, eventually.

I think moving Odor is fine, question being with EA and Juri both on the team do you automatically stick Pro at 2nd without Odor there or do you possibly stick EA at 2nd. That would be a ton of money playing 2nd base and Pro says he wants to play SS

  • The Rangers are exploring many trade options and have been linked to multiple teams, though they don’t appear to have had any “substantive talks” with the Reds, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News tweets. Texas has been linked to Jay Bruce, and the right fielder could be a fit with Shin-Soo Choo constantly battling injuries and Prince Fielder gone for the season, though Grant seems to imply that the Rangers’ interest in Bruce didn’t get too far. Anthony DeSclafani would certainly the attract the Rangers and other pitching-needy teams if Cincinnati made him available, though DeSclafani’s breakout year may have also made him into a building block for the rebuilding Reds.

Profar will play anywhere if it's permanent IMO, he might like SS more but that's largely irrelevant, I also think too much has been made of his comment
