Nick Young for Russell Westbrook straight up.

If only....

It is interesting that they still haven't officially signed Black, Ingram, and I believe Huertas yet. The delay in signing them could mean Mitch is working the phones. Ingram is the last of the young players that I would trade though.

Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm over from another forum that I've been posting at for years. It didn't really have an active Lakers forum, so I'm happy to find one here!

Looking forward to chatting about the team for the first time in quite awhile.

It's fairly quiet now but it certainly picks up when the season starts again. Plus any Lakers news is discussed fairly quickly here.

Good to have you on board though. Check out the main NBA board for general discussions.

Some (ESPN) are now suggesting that Sacre may be on par with Mosgov and the Lakers paid way too much for Mosgov. The key admission is that Luke thinks Mosgov is a "perfect fit" for the Lakers under Walton.

Lakers News: ESPN Ranks Timofey Mozgov As Third Worst Newcomer - Lakers Nation

saw that article...

truth to tell I have NO idea what we're gonna get outta Mozgov, but i'm HOPING the idea is like Bogut was in GS. pretty much rebound and protect the rim. if he does THAT well we might possibly get our money's worth...

well, that AND school up Zubac, who looks like he DEFINITELY has potential...

I think everyone agrees that the Lakers overpaid for Mosgov even if that is all he is expected to do CL67. Could have save a couple of 5-10 million or maybe more and still got the same Timofey. Perhaps.

Not really. People are over-reacting because he was the first big man signed.

If you look at the contracts other big men have received.....his deal wasn't that bad. Ian Mahinmi got the same deal (4 years and 64 mill) and Noah got 4 years and 72 million. Miles Plumlee was grossly overpaid at 4 years and 52 million.

Mozgov's contract is just about fair market value. It would be about 10-11 million per season under last season's salary cap. He was signed to be a rim protector and rebounder while mentoring Zublocka.

It's bad deal. You picked like the other two worst deals (Noah is fair price considering his name and if he's healthy) and left out all the other centers in his skill level that got paid less. LA just made bad move. It's that simple. Teams just fuck up sometimes and get reckless. This was one of those times.

On Mozgov: Word is that Luke wanted him. If that's the case, I can only assume that it means he fits what Luke wants to do. To me, that's good enough.

Having said that, it's really up to Mozgov to determine how bad this deal is. His production definitely dropped this past season. Supposedly, it was because he came back too early from his knee injury. If that's the case and he plays like the guy we saw prior to this past season (especially the playoffs and finals in the season before last) then it won't seem like such a bad deal.

End of the day, when you are re-building from scratch like the Lakers have been doing, sometimes you have to overpay a guy like Mozgov as part of working your way back to getting the attention of better FA's.

For the deal itself, I don't mind the money (it ain't my money anyway. lol), but I would have liked it a lot better if there was a team option on at least the last year and preferably the last 2 years.

Money aside, whomever claimed that Sacre is as good as Mosgov needs to share his stash.

Laker fans have seen enough of Sacre to know that he is a good guy, good teammate, overzealous cheerleader, and tries hard on the court. He just lacks too much of the talent part of the equation. He doesn't really belong on a NBA roster.
