Everyone saw the initial report about a 3 weeks ago about this missed drug test...we kinda blew it off as inaccurate, at least I did. Now, it's starting to look credible.

I'm not sure if there will be an appeal, but either you showed up for your test or you didn't...not much gray area on something like this imo.

Running, receiving, pass protection, Bell is arguably the best all around RB in the league today. However, at this point he seems to have a real problem with pot and could be headed down the same road as Martavious Bryant in losing a yr to weed.

Assuming he serves his 4 games, tests clean the rest of the year and has a good season...there will be a FA market for him w/o question, but I think he's already cost himself millions...he can forget a $15mil (pipe dream imo anyway from PIT), or even $10 mil per.

Should PIT make an attempt to keep him next year?

As good a player as he is...I hate to say this, but I think they need to cut ties unless he's willing to play to their number, which imo should be no more than $4 to $5mil per.

Your thoughts?

IDK im on the fence with letting him go .. I suppose I'm willing to ride out the storm with it for now and see what happens ... I know missing the test is considered a fail but he didnt piss positive... so if they test him and then he fails yea im ok with letting him go .. hopefully he wont be out the whole season

Not yet, But I also think Pitt will offer him $5/6 mil a year tops after this year IF he stays clean. If he doesn't stay clean they should cut his ass.

This is where I am too...stay clean and play for their number. Most likely he stays clean now or he's done for the yr anyway...he has a lot to prove now, they should get the best Bell on and off the field.

Yeah, I'm with you on the missed vs failed, but he still cost them 4 games...that's why his stock has dropped. Teams have to be cautious in tying up $10+mil in cap space to a player that might miss games or a whole season.

i agree .. but my other thought is did he miss because he thought that he would fail ? I would like to hear his reasoning

Thinking about it the Steelers could also trade him for a 5th round pick like they did Santonio several years ago/

Yeah...out of curiosity, I wouldn't mind either, but in these cases you assume guilty. The players pretty much know when the test are coming. If you've been caught once, a second positive is a yr so maybe you've been burning and you're not sure if you're clean or not, skipping the test is better than a positive.

I've been there and done that. There are worst things, but nobody was asking me to pee in a cup back then. I'm still a Bell fan, and really wanted to see him make some good money for his talent. But he's got to clean his life up...hanging out with Snoop Dog, recording a rap song...not suggesting that either had anything to do with it, but it's just not a good spot to be in for a guy trying to make a big pay day...stupidity.

What an idiot... Our offense just went up in smoke. He can kiss his second contract and "15 mil" goodbye.

This is ridiculous. Whether you think marijuana should be legal or not doesn't matter. You’re choosing to make a living for a company (league) where the main condition of your employment is don’t break the law, and you can’t handle it? Not to mention the payoff that’s exponentially better than what just about anyone else makes.

My message is plain & simple... Grow the f*ck up.

I’m a salaried worker, and one of the conditions of my employment? Don’t do drugs, they test you. And guess what? I don’t do drugs. If you miss a test, it counts as a fail. Guess how many tests I’ve missed? None. This isn’t f*cking rocket science. I know we are human and make mistakes, but this is his 2nd violation of the league's substance abuse policy... You can't keep using that same excuse over & over and expect people to forgive you. Clearly he has a problem. After the first violation he lied by saying he "didn't need weed" or some shit.

Of course I base this all off of whether the reports are true. But if they are, then I vote they trade his ass now. Sick of seeing these clowns ruin the reputation of a proud franchise. If he can't stay on the straight & narrow here, then I would HIGHLY doubt he would be able to anywhere else.

To be honest...I keep him because he's shot his value down the tubes anyway...this can still be the SB run season so I want the most out of him this year, whatever that is...after that, I really don't care if he walks or not.

I say keep him. He deserves to get suspended, but he's still too good to get rid of imo. He could still straighten out. I'm being really optimistic, but he could be a franchise player. With Ben getting older, we're gonna need a franchise player, and I'd like to have more than AB on offense in a few years.

Big Ben included? (Though I am sure some of that crap he gets from women is because he has money and talent)

As far as Bell is considered realistically what could they get for him? Yes some teams might be hurting for a RB but would they really be willing to give up a lot to get a player who will miss 4 games of the season?

Most importantly where should we take him in fantasy? lol

Either way IF the reports are true I would be upset with him as well but if they aren't then I'd also be super pissed

Bell is top 2-3 at his position. But carries a lot of baggage. It's fair to think his value is low, but I think their are more than a handful of desperate teams that would jump all over him (DET & CLE, off the top of my head).

I wouldn't take Bell with more than a 2nd Rd pick this year. 3rd Rd is a better target, but an itchy trigger finger will pick him up earlier than that.

The evidence that this is true is alarming. The rules state if you miss a test, you fail a test. Simple stuff. He knows that. I know that. You know that. Reports also say he missed more than one test. Like three or more. We can't be naive enough to think he is missing tests because he’s totally clean and is just forgetful! All the evidence supports that he’s dodging tests because he knows he’s dirty.

He’s selfish and let his teammates & coaches down. The people who actually depend on him.

He's the best back in the league. When he's playing. And between the injuries and suspensions, that isn't often. I'd rather see them kick his stupid ass to the curb and get a young back in there that will have time to gel with the team. This offense is the best the Steelers have ever had. If Bell doesn't want to be a part of it then I wouldn't want him in there.

He's an amazing talent. But he's too stupid and selfish for team sports.

Understanding what you're saying Face, The reasoning I have been hearing is he didn't think he had to take the tests because he was in the drug program from the suspension from last year. Granted, he is an adult and if he was unsure of whether or not he should take the tests, he should of asked. He said he was taking tests for the program as part of that agreement.....

IDK, something here really fuckin stinks. If it's the NFL, it figures, if it's indeed Bell....then he needs to pull his head out of his ass!!!!

Before you take him out and lynch him, maybe someone should find out if the guy has a problem with addiction. Not everyone can take Percoset or Oxycoden and just quit once the prescription runs out. Biggest problem is that doctors often prescribe the meds to do completely away with pain and the patient becomes hooked.

If Bell is hooked on painkillers, I'm sure he knew he'd be discovered so the addict Bell said, just skip the drug test never realizing skipping the test is worse than being discovered.

Maybe he can go somewhere and get help. It's the toughest addiction to break and worse, it usually leads to heroin because the scripts can't be refilled and the docs won't rewrite them.
