If Murray wins Sir Sean Connery, Sor Roger Moore and Sir Elton better be there to give him the trophy.

Of course. Got to give Murray every chance.
Murray is #2, so he and Nole were going to be on opposite sides anyway.

Fed not near the level of either Nole or Murray at the moment, and probably never again. Fed got about as favorable of a draw as possible up to the semis, and he'll still need a lot of luck to even make it that far.

Grass is still by far Fed's best chance of winning another major, but it's just not going to happen. Time to face reality..2 years ago or so.

No.

Murray wins Wimby
Even with Lendl back in his corner, Murray would need Nole to have a very off day for Murray to beat him. Assuming Murray makes it to the final.

I really want to watch the Kyrgios/Stepanek match.

Kyrgios's MO is trying to annoy his opponents to compensate for his weaknesses.

It's the same as Stepanek's MO, but I think Stepanek is better at it.

Kyrgios really should win it, but it'll be funny watching him deal with a turd/pest just like he is.

2nd round potentially interesting matches

wawrinka vs del potro
zverev vs youzhny
simon vs dimitrov
monfils vs johnson

Men's Draw:

Djokovic's Quarter:

A 4th round Raonic vs. Kevin Anderson / Goffin might be good, or it might be a straight sets match. I'm not as certain that this will be competitive, as I am other matches in general when I highlight them.

Djokovic vs. Raonic QF: I don't think this will be good at all. Raonic has had a few chances this year, and doesn't seem to match up well so far.

Djokovic in 3.

Federer's Quarter:

Simon vs. Tipsarevic 1st round: Sure they're not known for grass court play, but this could be a competitive match.

Tipsarevic hasn't looked good yet during his comeback, so Simon in 4.

Simon vs. Dimitrov 2nd round: Dimitrov should be better in grass, but this might be competitive. I'll say Dimitrov in 3 is the most likely result, but it will be good to keep an eye on this.

Dimitrov vs. Monfils 3rd round: Dimitrov hasn't shown to be consistent yet, so I could see Monfils winning. Rooting for Monfils, so I'll say Monfils in 5.

Monfils vs. Federer 4th round: While FED is the better grass court player, this will also be a good test as for what physical shape he's in. He might lose this if he's not really in great shape.

I'm hopeful for FED in 4, but no result would surprise me, given the uncertainty of FED's shape.

Cilic vs. Karlovic 3rd round: This is a tossup, even with Karlovic's age. Cilic hasn't given me much confidence lately, so I'll go with Karlovic in 4.

Karlovic vs. Nishikori 4th round: Nishikori in 3. Nishikori is decent on grass.

FED vs. Nishikori QF: If FED has gotten past Monfils, then he can do the same against Nishikori. FED in 4.

Wawrinka's Quarter:

Youzhny vs. Zverev 3rd round: This is good to watch their movement. I don't think Youzhny has won a big match in a few years. Zverev in 3.

Thiem vs. Zverev 4th round: Could they meet for 2 straight majors? That would be fun. Thiem is the better power player, but every now and then a good mover beats the power player.

I'll say Zverev in 4.

Wawrinka vs. Del Potro 2nd round: Wawrinnka in 3. Del Potro hasn't won a big match in years, even before he was injured.

Wawrina vs. Zverev QF: Wawrinka is just too good. Wawrinka in 3.

Murray's Quarter:

Isner vs. Baghdatis 1st round: Both players usually let me down, even at Wimbledon.

I always root for Isner, but I think Baghdatis is due for an upset. Baghdatis in an extended 5th set. It's the best way Isner knows how to lose a major match.

Baghdatis vs. Tsonga 3rd round: While Tsonga isn't playing as well as 2010 - 2011, he should still have an easy win. Tsonga in 3.

Tsonga vs. Gasquet 4th round: This could be a classic, or it could be a Tsonga straight sets win. While Gasquet has had a few decent runs at Wimbledon, I just don't like this matchup for him.

Murray vs. Krygios 4th round: Murray in 3.

Djokovic vs. FED SF: I'd give FED a better shot if he weren't returning from injury. Djokovic in 3.

Wawrinka vs. Murray SF: Wawrinka has a dangerous quarter. But if he can get through, I just like his matchup over Murray. He's beaten Murray on hard courts a few times, and they played a great 5 setter here in 2009.

Murray is better on grass, but I think this is the best shot Wawrinka has at a deep run so far in his Wimbledon career, and he'll take advantage. An conventional pick, but I want to make it.

I did have Murray over Wawrinka at the FO, partly because I thought Murray was due to get a win over Wawrinka their overall caliber is close enough that no one person should have a long streak over the other.

Djokovic vs. Wawrinka Finals: We will be lucky to now have this matchup at all four majors.

If Wawrinka had shown a little better pedigree on grass up to this point, I'd give him a better chance. But because he hasn't, Djokovic should win this in 3 or 4.

But, Wawrinka has won a lot of big matches when not favored since 2013, so can't count him out completely. If he gets his first serve % rate high, he'll have a chance. If it's in the mid 60s, doubtful.

Wawrinka has had mixed results at Queen's Club since 2014, so again, his grass record is shaky.

But again, he's won when the underdog, and he's motivated to get the most out of his career, so he has that going for him.

Women's Draw:

Serena's Quarter:

Serena vs. Wozniacki 4th round: This hasn't been a great matchup in the past. But given Serena's age, Wozniacki has as good of a chance to win as any. It's also not a given that she gets this far, but it's too hard to tell whom she might lose to also.

I'll say if Wozniacki wins, it will be in straight sets.

Serena in 3.

Radwanska's Quarter:

Kvitova vs. Bencic 4th round: Most likely this is an easy win, but there's a chance this is a decent match. Kvitova in 2.

Kvitova vs. Radwanska QF: Kvitova in 2.

Kerber's Quarter:

No one in this quarter gives me confidence. I'll pick Kerber just because, but I have no idea.

Muguruza's Quarter:

Muguruza vs. Stosor 4th round: Stosur is bad on grass for some reason. Even if she makes it to Muguruza in the 4th round, I can't see her being competitive.

Muguruza in 2.

Also, Lisicki might play Muguruza in the 4th instead. If that's the case, Lisicki has a good chance to win. She's good at Wimbledon. I'll still go with Muguruza because she's new, but wouldn't be surprised at any result.

I'm hopeful Venus can make it to the QF.

Muguruza vs. Venus QF: Muguruza should win since she's younger. Would be cool to see Venus get another big win this year.

Serena vs. Kvitova SF: I'll go with the recent trend of Serena losing, and pick Kvitova in 2.

Kerber vs. Muguruza SF: I'd root for Kerber, but think Muguruza wins this in 2.

Also, how cool would it be to see an All-German Lisicki vs. Kerber SF.

Kvitova vs. Muguruza Finals: I think this would be a great Finals. A 3 setter. I'd take Kvitova, I just like her serve slicing away.

They should have been in his box during the AO and FO Finals. Maybe he would have won then.

I don't think any of the young guns wins, though I would like to see Coric step up. Tomic has the best chance against an aging Verdasco. Sock is still just a poser IMO. He is in better physical consition this year but he is still a meathead. Even if he manages to get past Gulbis, He has no chance vs Raonic. He takes too big a backswing on return of serve to even have a chance at getting a ball back.

I think this is the Tourney that Thiem makes a big run.

On the womens side it should be Serena versus Muguruza again. Kerbs is coming back from injury and no Azerenka. Weak as usual.

Wimby is crazy though. Favorites drop like flies. Should be fun now that the practice season is over.

Usually when I think of someone as a "meathead", I think of someone who makes a lot of errors?

Do you think that's what Sock is like?

Stop insulting the earlier part of the year! :burt: Especially since the first half includes what has been my favorite major the past few years, the Australian Open.

You sound like a knowledgeable tennis fan, and then go full dilettante with the last sentence.

Anyway, Sock's worst surface is grass, so I don't like his chances. I don't like Isner's chances much either, but I guess I can hope.

I think you're right about Tomic and Verdasco. Tomic likes to slice and dice, and the ball bounces so low on grass, he can really make life hell for Verdasco.

Coric isn't a very effective returner, so Karlovic at even 80% with his serve should be able to beat him. But it's grass, so you never know. Players like Karlovic and Anderson are among the most limited athletes in the game, but the surface can reward them tremendously. But if the serve is off just enough or they meet a top 20 returner, it can go south really fast for them.

Sock can go through stretches where he makes incomprehensible errors, but he's gotten a lot better over the past year or so. He's also worked on his fitness, and that's helped.

His biggest asset is his topspin forehand, which explodes off the court on hard and (especially) clay. Opponents must feel like they're trying to hit a rock with all of that topspin.

Grass mitigates his biggest weapon, and his serve isn't quite good enough on grass to compensate for his lack of return ability.

It'll be interesting to see if his coaches worked with him on a slice backhand for Wimbledon this year. He'll struggle mightily if he tries to hit his normal flat backhand since the ball bounces so low.

I don't have a big issue with the schedule during the first half of the tennis season. Not a big fan of Clay tennis but the rest of the schedule is pretty good. We have the Aussie Open, French Open, Indy Wells, and Miami. Those are 4 pretty big tournaments in the first 6 months even if you're not a fan of how long clay season is.

Yeah, I was thinking about his matches at the FO, and he didn't seem to go through those bad stretches.

He was able to control a lot of points with that huge topspin forehand on clay.

It's his best surface by far.

I'm betting he'll start seeing better results on hard courts if he continues to work on fitness/movement.

Grass, I think, will always be a very tough surface for him.
