No doubt Elway knows what he's doing ... He's a good GM ... And yeah, Manning lost some arm strength but he made it up with smarts, he did exactly what was needed in the post season... Made some key big time play's also, even though his number's weren't great, his timing with some big play's was critical and he limited dumb mistakes... Coach Kubiak made the right call going back to him for the post season...

Yes and no

1) The first 2 playoff games against the Steelers and the Patriots I would agree. Manning did a great job of eliminating the big mistakes. When playing during the regular season Manning continued to have the mindset that he had to go out and win every game and well he just didn't have the arm to do that on a regular basis. He had a couple of decent games here and there like the Green Bay one but consistently his arm failed him and honestly almost cost the team more games than it did. I could argue Manning's inability to throw the ball down field cost us the Chiefs and Colts game pretty easily. His early turnovers put the defense in terrible spots and put the team behind early in the games taking away their best weapon in getting after the QB.

Still I would argue the Super Bowl was a down right terrible game for Manning. He had two very costly turnovers when our defense was dominating and our team had built up a good lead and all they needed from the offense was a few first downs and just don't turn the ball over. He threw a terrible interception and his fumble he just didn't feel the backside pressure. He also struggled on the money down of 3rd down. The team went I think 1 of 13 on 3rd down. So without the defense playing out of their minds and a couple of nice special teams plays the Broncos would have gotten blown out in another Super Bowl. Manning and most of the offense (CJ Anderson had a pretty good game) was a huge liability.

2) I do agree going back to Manning was the right call. At the time though man it could have blew up in his face. Nobody knew quite how healthy Manning was and if they lost that first game in the playoffs Kubiak would have been ripped apart by the media and Elway too. It was a gutsy call to go with the banged up Manning over the possible future of the team at QB in Osweiler. The move paid off huge thankfully.

I wouldn't say Terrible game in the Super-Bowl because he set the tone early and made some big play's putting the Panthers in the hole, something they hadn't seen for a LONG time... It was just the timing on some of his throws, they came when your Broncos needed it .... Obviously he didn't light it up, but he made some key play's .. It's easy to forget just how good that Panthers defense was also...

I would say other than that first drive he really didn't do much. Yeah I guess you can say he set the tone early but that first drive still only netted 3 points. To me it was the fumble and recovery in the end zone that much more set the tone and put the Panthers in a bit of a panic. 3 points in the NFL against the most explosive offense in the NFL last season with the MVP at the helm really isn't all that much. It was that pass rush just demoralizing that Panthers OL and them having no answer for the relentless hits on Cam that to me really set the tone. The got Cam off his rhythm and forced him into a bunch of throws he hadn't done all year.

I mean the offense after that 1st drive went 3 and out, 3 and out, 3 and out, 4 plays going -1 yards but being in field goal range after a great run return, 5 plays interception, 3 and out. That was the rest of the first half. They had 39 yards after that 1st drive in the first half. the 2nd half they got it going just a little bit more but not much. So to me I can't say the offense really did much to set the tone. The defense was dominating and getting them great field position to see the offense go 3 and out over and over again. I mean other than that 3 points on the first drive the other offensive points happened after a great punt return that they were already in field goal range and actually ended up going negative yards but still made the field goal. A good drive to start the 2nd half where Manning connected on a couple of deep passes and still ended in a field goal. Finally a fumble that started them on the 4 yard line that they were able to punch it in.

I think it can be said manning wasn't a component in the Broncos championship season ... their D was amazing especially in Denver against NE ... elsewhere, maybe not ... Cam is no Brady and he proved that in the SB ...

Elway seems to be the brain in that organization and this season will show whether that's true or not ...

Meantime, I hope to see Brady sit the first four games ... get through the bs and then dominate as usual ... hopefully with an intact OL ...

"Manning is more of an X's and O's demanding perfection" .... That is where Manning is like a coach on the field... He does a great job holding players accountable ... He's always prepared win or lose... It's tough to replace that kinda leadership on the field...Every year Manning was in Denver he gave you guy's a chance to win a Super-Bowl ... That's just the type of leadership he brings... I think you guy's will still be a good team with that solid defense, but it's not gonna be as smooth a ride without Manning... Expect some bumps

I believe they set a record for 13 or 14 in a row for 3rd and out and least amount of yards on offense in a SB. The D with the quick fumble for a TD set the tone and then causing Newton to fumble it on the 5 yard line was the other big play. CD is right with his insight

Wasn't to impressed with Brady at all in both games versus the Broncos last year. Missed many open guys and at times looked very scared. Another Patriots fan letting Brady off the hook by thinking he played great and blaming the offensiveline. Even when he had time missed open wr's. Just more excuses to help you sleep at night and make your hero still look good. Pathetic. Broncos Super Bowl Champs. Peace.

How you came to that conclusion with reality ball's comment is baffling. Stick to marbles or playing in a sandbox in the municipal park. Those games may be more easy for you to understand.

Brady's arm is shot, he should retire.

Legally at this point Brady could have this extended beyond his retirement of the game. My guess is that is what will happen. Tom will play the full season this year.

Much of any team's success is luck........

Luck in the draft. Most teams think that they draft the right guys and it never works out. Other teams draft the player that they think might fit and he turns out to be the MVP. (Brady at #199)

Luck in Free Agency. Some teams spend like a drunk sailor and get nothing, others pick carefully and maybe take a little chance and the guy turns out to be a beast or just magical. (Manning and Ware and Talib and Ward)

Luck with health. The biggest luck charm of them all. Even the best teams go flat when the IR list is full of starters. Health breeds success more than anything.

The most successful teams have had the best luck.

Sometimes it's about timing though... Manning just made some great throws at critical times... Again his numbers weren't great, but sometimes the numbers don't always tell the story... And his leadership can't be denied...

Your right he didn't try to force it and let the running game and the no#1 D do their part. Kudos to him. No Omaha's like vs your Seattle

I was feeling better about the Broncos in the Super Bowl when they just ran the ball and punted. Didn't want Manning to throw the ball at all. Peace.

His numbers are among the best of all-time.
