What has this guy done? That's right - NOTHING! He's living off of Ollie's vision of the direction the sports program should be heading. I've heard the same information about the state of the construction projects around campus. Why not increase the efforts around the Coliseum while the weather is good? He gives the sports program a 3.0 grade. WTF is that? I give him a 1.0 for the only thing he did, vote for a Big 12 Championship Game. I could care less about a Championship Game at this time due to the amount of teams in the league but at least he didn't abstain. He actually made a decision. Keep up the great work, Shane, we are all depending on you. Hopefully you are looking to bring Doc back to seal your legacy here. We will be the Roll Tide of the North. Can't wait!

Find it interesting he took a shot at Mazzey...what that guy his done with the baseball team has been nothing short of phenomenal...should have gotten an invite to the NCAA tourney....

The only team that underachieved was the Basketball team...and clearly he ain't ready to tell Huggin's that losing to Stephen F Austin was a major failure...

Can you explain how what he said about baseball is "a shot"???
“Baseball underachieved in the first part of the season, but Randy [Mazey] did a great job turning that team around, especially in Big 12 play,” said the AD. “Having three Big 12 teams left in the College World Series shows the power of the programs in the conference.”

“A lot of my time now is spent meeting with the coaches,” Lyons said. “We have our year-end reviews. We look at the specific teams and where we’re at in recruiting. We look how we can help as administration.”

Does he honestly feel he has helped Dana's recruiting efforts by not getting a contract extension deal done? Does he understand how WVU's competition can use Dana's uncertain future against his coaches out there on the recruiting beat?

I could not be more pissed at a WVU administrator as I am today...

DH is coming back for his final season, barring a Big XII title. Lyons wants to make his own hire, and I believe finances are the reason Dana is able to coach this season. I wouldn't be surprised if DH was out before the season ends.

Again..using the word underachieved is en-capsulizing the entire body of work ultimately failing in the end..you can't say that about the baseball team..they were in the hunt for the Big12 title and won more games than any other team in Wv history.........what would you say to the results of the basketball team?...he didn't use the word underachieved for Huggins..

That may indeed be the case...but if he wins 9 games it will be interesting..

WTF? he said underachieved at the seasons start......said they were great in B12 play, said the basketball results were a major disappointment, and that there was nothing to say. There was NO "shot" taken at baseball, you Luck lovers are a paranoid bunch.

How is that being paranoid? You get upset when somebody states that Stew underachieved. Lyons plays that stupid game with words. Should have started his sentence "With all due respect..." when he was addressing the baseball team. Why wouldn't he use the same statement for Huggins? Instead he uses a backhanded statement asking how the program would ever recover. While losing to Stephen F'ing Austin was a disappointment, the team was a bunch of overachievers who lost to a better team that day. Maybe Lyons is avoiding controversy. I'm sure the backlash for bashing Huggins would far outweigh bashing the baseball program. Not sure why he won't pull the trigger on Dana since every Mountaineer fan, and other posters on this website, feel he is a terrible coach. That position has many requirements associated with it and Lyons just isn't making those critical decisions. Maybe Luck will let Lyons borrow his.

My question would be what was the expectation? The conference had 5 teams pre-season ranked in the top 20 in the country.......and Wv wasn't one of them..

And show me where they underachieved at the beginning of the year..the only series they got blown out in was AT TCU..

Lyons proves to me more and more every day what a stupid fuck he is.

The baseball team was extremely young this year. Look at the roster. Look at the number of underclassmen playing for him this year.

Underachieved my ass. It simply took him and the players finding their groove. It's a process when dealing with young kids playing college ball for the first time.

In the history of the program the team had more total wins just 3 times Van Zant did it twice the most recent in 2006 and the team won 40 in 1994....none of those came in arguably one of the top 3 baseball conferences in the country..

I guess since Luck left, WVU should just abandon sports, we will never win anything, without Luck's guidance, the stadium and Coliseum will fall down, the teams will never win, and if we should manage to win a game it was due to Luck, not any current coach or administrator..............unreal.

Why is it so difficult for you to see / understand what Luck has done for WVU and Morgantown? While Gee continues to gobble up land around the university to expand it, Lyons has only made 1 decision since getting the big seat. That's because the big important things have been done for him. Do you honestly believe that Lyin' Lyons could have built a baseball stadium or bring in a baseball team? All he had to do is either get a contract done with Dana or he should have released him after this past season. Why aren't you outraged by what No balls Lyons said about the baseball and basketball team? You were outraged when Luck canned the senile wrestling coach, Trumbull.

Fire Dana and Huggins. According to our no balls AD, they are underachievers. Bring your boys in to run our sport teams. I'll even give him advice - fire Dana first. It'll be easier for you to do and you already have a replacement sitting in Huntington waiting for your call. I can't wait for the Pastilong 2.0 era to begin.
