I hate to say it, but I'm starting to expect runs coming home when we have RISP late in close games. Edgar's had a huge impact on this team. The entire order is working pitchers over with deep AB's.
I agree. I mentioned this the other day, i love the fact that we're seeing so many 2-2 or 3-2 counts.. More pitches you see, more chance of getting good AB's.

Gone are tge days of impatient guys at the plate. They pound out another 12 hits today.

It's fun to see Dipoto's vision coming to life right in front if us. The guys he brought in has been fantastic.

Since the 5 game losing streak, the M's have gone 15-5 since. I like it!

I thought the season was over when that happened. This team is loaded. Cano's on fire, Seager's coming around, and Cruz hasn't really shown his teeth yet. Now's the time to build an early cushion.

I'm so not use to rooting for winners. First my Broncos win the Super Bowl, then Miesha Tate wins the UFC women's title. Now the Mariners are looking like they might very well be serious playoff contenders? Say it ain't so. I might have to get use to this.

I don't know what was said after that skid, but I hope they kept the recording of it!

Is this real life?
Like most abusive relationships, I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop and the M's to come back down to earth. Very happy they keep clicking. Hopefully they can keep it up for the entire season. Not even at the quarter pole yet.

The pieces seem to be fitting together a lot better than last year. One thing that isn't working though is "manufacturing" runs, which I've always thought was bunk anyway. We are scoring because we are stringing hits together and hitting for power. We aren't very good (efficient) at stealing, sacrificing, or moving guys over.

One aspect I thought we'd be better at this season is stealing bases... We've stolen a total of 10 and have been thrown out 8 times... Basically, we've been thrown out stealing 40% of the time - not a good ratio...

That hill is the stupidest feature. They just need to get rid of it.

I believe they plan to remove it after this season. They were gonna do it last offseason, but they had too many events scheduled and apparently didn't have the time to do it.

Part of the problem early on was that guys like Aoki and Marte, the tablesetters, weren't getting on base much, so there weren't many steal attempts. They've started running more often recently, but as you said, they haven't been particularly good at it. Martin is the only one who has really had success stealing bases so far.

Now that Aoki and Marte are hitting better, I would expect to see more steal attempts and I think we'll start to see that success rate go up.

I have to believe this is Edgar's doing.

Edgar's a big part of the success with working counts, but I'd add that it (CTZ) was a cornerstone to the Servais/Dipoto philosophy for the team from the instant pitchers and catchers reported to Spring Training. Servais has demonstrated that he's a good leader with how much the team is buying in and looking at the metrics/scouting reports they're given. The players are initiating their own meetings to go over plate strategies with opposing pitchers, and I'm sure Edgar is an amazing resource for this along with the mechanics he works on with all of his players.

It's exactly what Dipoto was trying to do in Anaheim when Fat Scioscia and Pooholes basically told him to take a a hike, which he did.

It should be an awesome feeling for Dipoto when he finishes ahead of the Angels in the standings.

Damn, never thought of that analogy but definitely fits the relationship with Mariners fans and the team.
