Shaw is rumored to be a top assistant choice. Not sure how much of the Phil Jackson coaching tree I'd want around. Shaw was a well liked assistant in Indiana though. Good rapport with the players. The Lakers should throw some good money at Vogel if he doesn't land a head coaching job somewhere else.

Agree re: not taking too many Disciples of Phil Although I could see where Shaw might be a good hire. He's been respected as an assistant wherever he's been and, as you mentioned, has had a good rapport with players. Something that has been lacking with every Lakers staff since Phil retired.

Top contenders right now for Luke's staff are Shaw, Bickerstaff, and maybe Nash. Maybe.

Not a bad group, but I'd like to see Luke/the Lakers do what Kerr did and bring in an experienced former head coach as an associate head coach.

Man, I really, really don't want to be known as the team that drafted, and traded Ben Simmons. If we can get something big to attract other free agents then so be it...but it'd be nice to wait it out if we were lucky enough to get Simmons. Once Simmons puts it all together, I believe that he will dominate the NBA. Only thing is that our organization isn't known for their patience, so we'll see what happens...

However, I'm one to think that it's not the end of the world if we don't get the pick...however, someone would have to talk me off the ledge, if we missed out on the pick, and Boston got a high pick.

Boston and the Lakers are interested in swapping picks is the latest. Even more interesting, the Lakers are interested in the Dub's back-up center Ezeli who wants to stay with GS and the Dubs have the right to match any offer. I wonder if Luke is having anything to do with this?

Hate to say it, but that Brooklyn pick for Boston was genius. They reloaded the right way and will back in contention soon.

The Jim Buss Era:

“If I knew this was coming, I would have played Lou [Williams], Brandon [Bass] and guys like that a whole lot more,” Scott said, referring to his veterans in an interview with this newspaper. “They gave me the best chance to win.”

“I wasn’t going to sell myself; that’s just not me. But I did bring up the fact that I thought I had at least another year with our discussions that this would be hard the first two or three years,” Scott said. “They asked if I was all right with it and I said, ‘Yeah I am. But are you guys?’ The answer back to me was, ‘Yeah, because we knew this would be tough and it would take a while.’”

Trumping poor commutation with even worse strategy. Jim Buss Era: We Make it Mathematically Impossible to Lose our Traded Number 1 Draft Picks

Byron's still talking? Nice to know he'd sacrifice the development of the younger players in order to keep his job, Is it any wonder why he was sent out?

His recent comments are why he was fired. I get he's trying to some damage control but really, what for? He's delusional to believe that he'll get another head coaching job in the NBA.

I don't think anyone thinks that Byron was truly given a fair shot. But it's also not like the FO expected him to get to the playoffs either. Even the most homeristic, delusional Lakers fans didn't expect that.

However, what the FO and fans did expect was development and communication. When a team is supposedly focusing on defense and there is no defensive improvement at all...development is an issue.

When players are being benched and have no idea why...communication is an issue.

I think that even those who were most against Byron being hired would have been willing to see him stick around for another season, if we saw something/anything that pointed to development and communication taking place. But there was none.
