McGregor said in a Facebook statement. "I must isolate myself now. I am facing a taller, longer and heavier man. I need to prepare correctly this time." Wasn't he the taller, longer, heavier man when he was facing "midgets" as he called them when he fought in the FW division. Those guys fulfilled their media obligations.

I think 3 additional months of training wont be enough for McGregor to beat Diaz especially if the fight goes to the ground. McGregor has a punchers chance standing but Diaz is a heck of a boxer too. I want to see him fight Diaz but I understand why the UFC is expecting him to fulfill his media obligations. All the fighters should either not have to do media commitments or all have to. The UFC knows that if McGregor gets a free pass then they can expect other fighters to follow suit.

He's not retired he just didn't want to promote the event but Dana still says the fight is off.

Honestly, good for Dana for sticking to his guns on this one, not always a fan of him, but fine with this. You want to fight for an MMA company where you don't have to do marketing and promotions, there are plenty of them out there. You want the paycheck to fight for a company that is well promoted and marketed which leads to them being able to offer bigger paydays, you can do what is required to get that paycheck.

Not sure I get the WWE conspiracy, it seems like if you aren't a fan of promoting your events, and just want the real fight, that the WWE would be anywhere on your radar, those guys do a LOT of that on the road all the time.

HE'S NOT RETIRED!!! Read his fb post:

I am just trying to do my job and fight here.
I am paid to fight. I am not yet paid to promote.
I have become lost in the game of promotion and forgot about the art of fighting.
There comes a time when you need to stop handing out flyers and get back to the damn shop.
50 world tours, 200 press conferences, 1 million interviews, 2 million photo shoots, and at the end of it all I'm left looking down the barrel of a lens, staring defeat in the face, thinking of nothing but my incorrect fight preparation. And the many distractions that led to this.
Nothing else was going through my mind.
It is time to go back and live the life that got me this life.
Sitting in a car on the way to some dump in Conneticut or somewhere, to speak to Tim and Suzie on the nobody gives a fuck morning show did not get me this life.
Talking to some lady that deep down doesn't give a fuck about what I'm doing, but just wants some sound bites so she can maybe get her little tight ass a nice raise, and I'm cool with that too, I've been giving you all raises. But I need to focus on me now.
I'm coming for my revenge here.
I flew an entire team to Portugal and to Iceland to make my adjustments in preparation and fix my errors I made with the weight and the cardio prep.
With the right adjustments and the right focus, I will finish what I started in that last fight.
I will not do this if I am back on the road handing out flyers again.
I will always play the game and play it better than anybody, but just for this one, where I am coming off a loss, I asked for some leeway where I can just train and focus. I did not shut down all media requests. I simply wanted a slight adjustment.
But it was denied.
There had been 10 million dollars allocated for the promotion of this event is what they told me.
So as a gesture of good will, I went and not only saved that 10 million dollars in promotion money, I then went and tripled it for them.
And all with one tweet.
Keep that 10 mill to promote the other bums that need it. My shows are good.
I must isolate myself now.
I am facing a taller, longer and heavier man. I need to prepare correctly this time.
I can not dance for you this time.
It is time for the other monkeys to dance. I've danced us all the way here.
Nate's little mush head looks good up on that stage these days. Stuff him in front of the camera for it.
He came in with no shit to do that last one. I'd already done press conferences, interviews and shot the ads before RDA pulled out.
Maybe I'll hit Cabo this time and skull some shots pre-fight with no obligation.
I'm doing what I need for me now.
It is time to be selfish with my training again. It is the only way.
I feel the $400million I have generated for the company in my last three events, all inside 8 months, is enough to get me this slight leeway.
I am still ready to go for UFC 200.
I will offer, like I already did, to fly to New York for the big press conference that was scheduled, and then I will go back into training. With no distractions.
If this is not enough or they feel I have not deserved to sit this promotion run out this one time, well then I don't know what to say.
For the record also -
For USADA and for the UFC and my contract stipulations -
I AM NOT RETIRED.

He wants to focus more on preparing for the fight and not spending all of his time promoting it...period. So UFC pulled him from 200 because he isn't fulfilling his media obligations. Conor asked for some leeway to not have to do ALL of the media requests, but only some of them and his request was denied.

There is no injury, he is not "shaken up from the Carvalho fight", he would not have pissed hot... etc.

I understand McGregor's plight here, but he has to understand that the company he works for has a huge revenue stream directly from marketing. Which I think he does, because he still agrees to do most of the marketing, just not all of it. But I also understand that a LOT of the marketing he does is really nonsense. Some of it none of us would have ever seen or heard of because of how small the market was. Doesn't seem to me that Conor cares about the money, whether this is a smokescreen or not. It's a standoff. I think Dana will be forced to cave to McGregor in this situation. They would lose a lot of money if they didn't.

WWE conspiracy is beyond stupid.

The UFC is currently working on a new main event for the card, which will take place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Other bouts currently set for the event include two title fights, with Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar battling for the interim featherweight title, and Miesha Tate defending her UFC women's bantamweight crown against Amanda Nunes.

So bizarre. That card already has a main event. The same fight it was before, just acknowledge it FFS.

Same. I see his point, but he really should have thought about the time he was contractually bound to spend on promotions before signing on the dotted line. He knew what the commitments were before he packed all his shit for Iceland & Portugal. And honestly, who is he kidding? He LOVES the spotlight but the loss made him look like a dumbass for acting like Nate was going to be a walk in the park for him. It's in his best interest to at least APPEAR like he's laser focused this time around.
