Ever since he left it has been bland. And WWE powers that be have too much ego to bring him back or settle the issue between the two parties.

Jim Ross could make any match interesting. Even the worst ones we see today on RAW, he could make at least bearable to watch.

IMO, I don't think its a coincidence that the overall product started to feel stale and go down hill AFTER Ross was gone.

Ross, Styles, and Heyman have been the best to me over the last 20 years. I enjoyed CM Punks time at the announce table as well. I can't stand Cole but I'm sure the WWE love him because he has no problems do the corner job for them. JBL usually offers nothing and as does Saxton.

I will say this though..... they are light years ahead of TNA's current announce team. I hadn't watched a TNA show in probably 2 or 3 years but tuned in for their debut on PopTV. I cringed for 2 hours. It was not only one of the worst produced and booked shows I have seen but the announcers did more to kill the show than save it. Big mystery partner for the Beautiful People and they gave it about a 5 second build up before Gail Kim came out. They then proceeded to give this zero hype or really any importance what so ever. Way to kill a big moment in the show guys. Then again the booking did it no favors by rushing her out or putting in a nice pause before her music kicked in so whatever it was just a bad show all around, and they did this all night.

I like Corey Graves in NXT I think he does a good job of play by play while offering a wrestlers in-sight. He's a bit like Punk was during his time. Funny thing is Saxton does it with him sometimes and I enjoy Saxton much more there as well. =\ Just a difference in who runs the shows.

Yes WWE announce team is better than TNA's. No doubt, but it really needs Ross. I have yet to catch the new Smackdown to listen to their new announcer, as I heard he was good.

But Jim Ross made the product. So much is needed from the commentators to really put the shine on what is happening in the ring. Without Ross, that is a glaring issue within the WWE.

Ross just signed a deal to call New Japan Wrestling on AXS TV. WWE was stupid for letting him go

I dont think its much of a choice, after suffering that stroke in 2014, I think its more a health issue and concern about him making it thru a broadcast.

Yeah I tend to agree with this. JRs the GOAT but with his health issues and his age he shouldn't be their full time announcer. If stone cold has another match he should call it for nostalgia and historical perspective. Stuff like that Undertakers retirement match etc

True about the health side of things. Probably the main reason.

But dang they did a poor job trying to find a replacement for him. Cole is not good. His "moments" seem far too forced and like he is trying to market something. JR was just genuine.

Yeah, they moved Lawler to smackdown since it was taped and he would actually be able to voice over in post production. Now that smackdown is live there is no room for error again.

It's live? I thought it was still taped on Tuesday, aired on Thursdays.

Smackdown is still taped on Tuesday. It would take the WWE drastically changing their travel schedule to do a Live Thursday night show since typically Wed and Thur are off days with House Shows on the weekend, RAW on Monday and Smackdown taping on Tuesday.

They could always take Tuesday and Wednesday off but then you're doing a Live Thursday, 3 days of House Shows or 2 days and a PPV then a Live Monday. The talent would be very much worn out come Monday on that schedule. They'd have to start rotating and giving more guys off on the House Shows which wouldn't be bad for the talent at all, but those House Shows is where a lot of money is made since they don't have the production cost of a televised show. The WWE absolutely does not want to do anything to cut out that profit.

And really why take it Live? What's their competition? WCW Thunder coming back anytime soon? Any shot TNA had of challenging them on Thursday night went out the window a long time ago. It will take awhile if ever for another promotion to come along and try to really challenge Vince for TV views. AOL/Time Warner simply screwed all the wrestling fans over big time by selling to Vince and effectively killing the only brand that was big enough to go against him.

They should do without House Shows now. Give the talent a break. However, maybe I heard WWE gets a lot of money from house shows? If they don't, I don't see why they continue to do these.

Just do live RAW and Smackdown and a PPV every 4-5 weeks. Gives the roster plenty of rest.

In fact, put RAW back to 2 hours. Have full roster on both shows, Raw and Smackdown. Giving you 4 hours of total television for everyone. keeping everyone fresh, and keeping the product fresh.

Once everyone is healthy I would love for them to do Smackdown live with a brand split.
Raw can cater to Vince's sports entertainment vision and Smackdown can be more old school wrestling ala NXT.

Just a hypothetical roster split.. Raw- Reigns, Cena, Rollins, Orton, The League of Nations, Kane, New Day, Ziggler, the Usos.. Smackdown- Bryan, AJ Styles, Ambrose, The Wyatt Family, Balor, Samoa Joe, Cesaro, the Social Outcasts. All the top tier talent will get airtime and have meaningful feuds. You can keep stars far enough apart on the weekly shows that Balor vs Cena or Styles vs Rollins etc would be huge at a PPV like SummerSlam.

Unless I'm mistaken, I don't think Joe is leaving NXT anytime soon. He seems to be a guy there to help with the new guys and get them ready for the main roster.

That moment when you remember seeing Jim Ross as a ring announcer working for Bill Watts in Mid-South Wrestling.

They need to just accommodate JR. If he can only show up for PPVs or every other RAW...so be it. They work around Lesnar's demands. Probably not the best analogy...but works for me.

WWE started to slowly phase Ross out back in 2008 when they moved him to Smackdown, without even informing him beforehand. Cole is viewed as their golden boy, while Ross is viewed as the rasslin' announcer who they hired from WCW and Jim Crockett Promotions.

Also, a brand split is not a good idea. They currently do not have the depth (when it comes to star power) to pull off a brand split right now.

It's a little thin at the top with Cena, Rollins, and Orton injured. Once they're healthy there's too much talent for one brand.
