Just wanted to share tis old memory. We recently had Rollie fingers name pop up in one of the players Quiz answers.
I then remembered watching him pitch for the Palm BEACH TROPICS OF THE NOW DEFUNCT SENIOR PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL LEAGUE IN FLORIDA. The league was composed of 8 teams. The only requirement
was for a player to be 35 years of age or older. I sat behind home plate and watched Fingers as he baffled the hitters with amazing ball movement. Some of theses guys were still fun to watch.
Dick Wiliams was the manager. Some of Fingers teammates were: Randy Johnson, Ray Burris, Juan Eichelburger, Pete Broberg, Mad Al hrabosky, Lowell Palmer, Mike Easler, Mike Easley, Mickey Rivers, Lee Lacy, Dave kingman, Toby Harrah, Ron Washington and others. This team was hand picked by Williams. They went on to win their division and finished with a 52-20 record. Tickets were between $10.00 and $$20.00 per game. I probably attended about 7-8 games that year. The following year the league went bust due to poor attendance. Another interesting tidbit is that John Henry owned the Tropics. I kind of regret that I was not an autograph hound at the time.
the players were very amiable about signing after the games. But I do have fond memories and I enjoyed
the games.

You should not have said that he was the current bench coach for the Marlins. That is too much info to give out.
I live within 90 minutes of the Marlins and I hear everything that is going on with them. I Know the guy but I will leave the answer for somebody else.

Just wanted to share tis old memory. In the 1970s, I was in the pron industry. I wasn't a star in any of the films or anything; I was mainly the post-production manager and crushed up the Viagra and sifted it into lines for the actors to snort (Sean Michaels once told a reporter that I created the finest and thinnest lines of any pron bellboy he ever worked with). Anyway, I was always shy and awkward in school, but I fell in love with an actress on the set and she agreed to marry me. I thought I hit the fucking jackpot marrying a pron star- but boy was I wrong. Every night I went to bed knowing the next day I would have to wake up and watch take after take of a big black dick in my wife's ass. Long story short- I couldn't take it anymore so on New Years' Eve 1979 I shot my wife and her pron partner while they were fucking, and then I shot and killed myself. It was actually caught on footage and released on Youtube 30 years later. Anyway, if you want to see me, here I am:

According to some of your other stories you were not even born yet in 1979. You have quite an imagination
although it is distorted. Are you related to Stephen King?

The formulation of the systematic downfall of every person at the hands of my fantasy baseball league has slowed this thread down, but here's a (recent) player
  • Seven-time All Star
  • Won the AS MVP in 2004
  • Played in three different decades
  • In 2003 he set the record for most games in a season with a lead off home run with 13 games
  • In 2006 he he became the fastest man in baseball history to reach 200 home runs and 200 stolen bases, reaching the mark in 929 games
  • He was the first player in MLB history to reach 40 home runs, 40 stolen bases and 40 doubles in one season

Insane. I think a better question would be, was this ever achieved by a player who didn't use steroids?
