Damn shame. I had always figured he'd go back to ROH and work some other Indys if WWE never cleared him (he had been cleared by several other docs) but based on his speech tonight, it sounds like he's done for good. Whatever report he got last week convinced him it just wasn't worth it

I am pretty sure he was getting the same reports all thru the process, he just kept looking to find a doctor that would be enough to convince Vince to let him keep wrestling. I think he finally read the reports last week.

What is really missed by alot of fans though, is Vince was honestly looking at the rest of Brians life. All the flack Vince takes for being a billionaire and puppet master to guys careers, he truly stood his ground for the best of Brians future. They may not sell all the seats in Dallas if they have the 110 capacity setup, maybe more if there is field seating, but I dont doubt in a minute that if Brian was on the card in any capacity, they would have filled that building. Thats the glory whore numbers that everyone thinks Vince focuses on. Not in this case. You also figure they waited long to announce this so that Brie does not lose her spot, and he will not wrestle anywhere else while Brie is still appearing. When she goes to Mom mode, he might lace them up again. But he knows Vince will do to Brie what he did to AJ.

Vince is also looking out for the company too but that's his job. They don't want another Benoit situation or worse on their hands in a few years and I don't fault WWE here one bit. They need to protect the wrestlers from themselves sometimes. As Brian said last night, he loves wrestling like nothing else. Stopping yourself from doing something you love like that is almost impossible. So, WWE has to step in and say STOP. Brian is a smart guy, he knows this is the end. He can never risk wrestling again.

I wonder if WWE has another role planned for him such as commentating or teaching at developmental???

I cant see him teaching, since like I said so often, his in ring skills always had him coming down on his head and neck. Didnt he say he had 3 concussions his first year? I am sure there is some compensation that will go to him as long as he does not wrestle, but any show he gets on WWE network will not have the following he had in the ring. Right now, I honestly dont think they trust him enough to let him announce, he will still want to get physical. As long as Brie is doing total divas, I think thats the only place we see him. Honestly, I dont think Brie would be wrestling now if Nikki was not injured. She was the one on her way out, so Brie probably does not want him around there anyway.

With the WWE network needing new original programming, they can find something for him to do that doesn't involve getting into the ring. The biggest issue with him teaching is he couldn't be hands on. He could become what WWE now calls an 'Agent' through and help plan out matches for the talent and report back to management on what's working and what's not.

Or he may just want to leave the business all together and do something else/new.

First off. Some People have no respect:

“So some guy ended up getting thrown out (and roughed up) by security for trying to start a chant by singing that “na, na, na, na, hey, hey, hey, goodbye” song while Daniel was talking,” he wrote. “It was during the moment the whole place went silent while he was going over his gratitude; the guy started screaming the tune at the top of his lungs. Three security guys rushed him and just pulled him out of our row and he was out of there quick. You can tell by the look on his face that he didn’t even know what was happening.”

1) Should've been talken out of the areana and shot.

2) Yeah, he could be an onscreen GM or booker (like ROH) for WWE or some promotion with TV (TNA) or just be a behind the sceens guy.

It was bitter sweet to watch RAW last night. Did you guys hear that crowd when Bryan came out? See everyone pointing up and saying YES!? That's how everyone should be starting to react heading into Mania, but there are no other Daniel Bryan's on the roster right now. The WWE has no one the fans are behind quite like that at this moment and that's sad.

Daniel Bryan will now join Edge as someone that sadly got forced to retire during the height of their career. They both could have been headlining Mania this year, but the rest of their life is far more important.

Since Brie is still on roster, wonder if Bryan will look to stay with WWE.

Would be awesome if he became the new announcer on Raw. Get rid of Saxton.

Saw the Bryan interview on ESPN. He went into more detail about his tests. He says he had been cleared by many other doctors but on his more recent test, he took a newer type of test that hadn't been done before and they found a lesion on his brain that is likely the cause of some post concussion seizures he had suffered in the past. Where he's at with his family and all he's done, he decided it just wasn't worth pursuing after receiving that news

Although selfishly for all of us it sucks, because he was a great entertainer and wrestler, it is the smartest move he will make with his life.

I was just reading that Brian was fired from the WWE his first time around for putting his hands on Michael Cole. I just cannot believe they trust him enough to not stand up and get in an altercation with a wrestler mocking him.

Yes, for fake chocking out the ring announcer or the time keeper (can't remember which) with his tie. The fan protest over his firing was so intesnse that they had to hired him back a few weeks later to quell it. Come to think of it, this was the first time the WWE fans got behind Bryan and forced WWE to change their plans (or lack thereof) for him. Never thought about it before but this was the foundation of the 'Yes' Movement.

What I read was he choked out roberts and threw him into the table where he hit Cole. It really does not matter, he was really fired for spitting in cenas face. He was not always this lovable little cuddly guy.

The storyline was a 'gang invasion' by the Nexus. What do you want him to do, shake hands with faces to ruin the storyline?

My comment had nothing to do with nexus in 2010 before we knew any of these guys. My comment was pointed towards those Brian Danielson lovers that cannot go on without him wrestling anymore who want him to immediately be inducted in the hall of fame. There were rules. He was not supposed to choke or spit and he did. After choking Roberts he threw him into Cole. This was basically 5 short years ago. He did the three things they told him not to, choking, spitting and making contact with announcers. Then after suffering multiple concussions the moron still does billy goat head butts in the ring. You guys just love your 200 pound trouble makers.

You don't know what they did or didn't tell him to do, because if you read the link I posted, he said the Nexus members were given very little direction and basically told to go out there and perform a 'gang style assault.' Apparently when he returned to backstage, that was the first he heard that they were against choking/spitting.

Also found this excerpt:
It took several weeks, but, according to F4WOnline.com’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, word is finally seeping out that the original Nexus invasion angle was almost completely unformatted, with the eight NXT rookies told to improvise their spots to make the attack on John Cena and the WWE employees look especially believable.

The only direction they were given was to take out the ringside employees and to make the attack look different than the standard pro wrestling beatdown

The lack of planning (and lack of clarification about WWE’s “rules” for PG broadcast) would explain why Bryan “Daniel Bryan” Danielson ended up going against the WWE grain with the “tie choke” on Roberts and spitting on John Cena; it also explains why John Cena had to blatantly tell Heath Slater to halt his attempt to apply a choke with the ring ropes.

But you apparently knew what was said to him beforehand on what not to do? It's clearly obvious you're just looking for any excuse to bash him (even if it means making it up), since you've never liked the guy.
