Rusev

Admittedly I have not watched WWE in a few weeks, took a break during that whole Kane/Corporate Kane multi personality storyline with Rollins.......farrrrrrrr too ridiculous to believe.

But last I remembered, Rusev was suppose to be Russian? Or at least had some sort of history with Russia? Did he not fly Putin's face on the big screen and even on the Russian flag when it was drawn down over the ring?

Now tonight on RAW he comes out as Bulgaria.........?

I missed something.

Was this ever explained?

I did always wonder why he had an Italian tat on his shoulder when he was pretending to be Russian. But now he is Bulgarian.....

He hasn't been from Russia since a month or so after his debut. A little while after he debuted and started pronouncing his love for Vladimir Putin something in Russia happened and WWE changed it to him now residing in Bulgaria and the announcers started referring to him as the Bulgarian Brute. He still loved the Russian flag though.

I could have sworn the guy was from Russia and billed from Russia for most the time.

In fact, I think when he was on Smackdown and came to Portland like a month ago the Russian flag dropped when he came out. Or he was waving it. I cant remember.

He started out Bulgarian, then they switched him to Russian, but he's back to Bulgarian again.

He was billed from Russia for a bit because he was supporting Lana(who's billed from Russia) but somewhere along the way they decided to change it to his actual country of Bulgaria but still have him support the Russian flag.

ah the Lana deal....gotcha, makes a little sense based on that.

Isn't Bulgaria a part of the Russian sphere of influence or whatever they call it? Lots of those old Soviet bloc countries can play in a Russian angle.

The only thing I saw about Bulgaria was it was on the Black sea, but an old USSR shows


So I am pretty sure its this angle of being governed by the USSR.

Well I don't know but it seems like any person who migrated here from a country that ends with ia is affiliated with the Russian Mafia

I really dont know. They are just stuck with Cena, Orton, Lesnar, Cesaro, Rollins all out for various reasons they are playing the hand they are being dealt. I just cannot see Lana out there with Stephanie when she comes back, so I dont think this will last long. I guess between Reigns getting the title and nobody for the authority to protect anymore, the belt to reigns and lanas return to rusev should go hand in hand, possibly for a title shot. The guy can wrestle even if he is from south america.
