Anybody have any go to dishes?

I make pretty good apple muffins I was thinking about bringing, but I work with almost all women and every single one I've talked to is bringing sweet stuff. I want real food.

My brother does some thing with super thick cut bacon that is almost candied with maple syrup and some kind of nuts. It's good, but still not something you can fill up on.

I kind of want to do a baked brie en croute with either some crackers or nice french bread. But it's like a 20 minute drive and no oven there, so it wouldn't be all warm and melty and delicious. Maybe I could microwave it without ruining it?

I'm not a morning person at all, so it has to be something I can either make ahead of time or at most bake it quickly at the last minute. And serve room temp or cold.

@Edonidd I love breakfast casseroles. A 20min drive kinda stinks for keeping things hot enough, but even just warm most of them are still tasty. Instead of regular muffins, what about little quiche muffins? They still taste good even at room temp.

I decided I'm just doing a bunch of fancied up deviled eggs. Gonna do like 1/4 each of regular, black truffles, bacon & white cheddar, and smoked salmon.

I've made the cheddar and bacon, and the smoked salmon before, and obviously the plain ones. They're always a hit. Never tried black truffles before, but i hear it goes great with eggs. And i have this tiny itsy bitsy "jar" of black truffle paste that i dont know what else to do with. Plus I'll get extra credit from the women folk for having the fanciest dish there, even though it's probably the easiest.

Mini quiches are a great idea for something like this.

Sounds good but I don't know how to make them. Deviled eggs just seemed perfect, I can make them ahead of time so I don't need to get up early they don't need to be hot or cold, and they can sit out without getting bad/stale.

BREAKFAST BAKE!!!

Ridiculously easy to do, and its always a huge hit!

Ingredients:
  • 2lbs meat of choice. Ham (cubed), Pork Sausage, Bacon, Chorizo, you name it. Go solo with 1 choice, or mix & match.
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped. Equates to about 1-1.5 cups.
  • 0.5 cup chopped yellow onion, chopped.
  • 3 cups frozen hash browns, the cubed kind.
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar
  • 1 cups of original Bisquick Mix.
  • 2 cups of milk
  • Salt/pepper to taste
  • 4 eggs
Note: This equates to about 10-12 servings depending on cuts. I usually add 2-3 more eggs to the recipe to fluff it up and make it heartier so you can make smaller cuts. Also, feel free to omit the onions as a precaution. I've had people say it was a little too "oniony" for their taste.

Directions:
  • Heat oven to 400F. Grease a 10x12 (or whatever size as long as its depth is at or above 2") baking dish.
  • Cook the meat & veggies (bell pep & onion) together & drain. If you are only using Ham you can skip this step. Both will cook just fine in the oven.
  • Mix the meat & veggies with the hashbrowns & 1.5 cups of shredded cheddar. Pour into baking dish.
  • Stir Bisquick mix, milk, pepper and eggs until well blended. Pour into baking dish over previous mixture.
  • Bake uncovered 40 to 45 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Sprinkle with remaining cheese while its hot.

In case your wondering, the bake I posted is good to serve either hot or at room temp.

Brown some breakfast sausage ( game meat for some reason makes this better, I use venison sausage ). Mixed browned sausage with cream cheese. Spread that mixture on a canned crescent roll that is on a greased 12x9 pyrex dish then cover the top with another canned crescent roll to make a sammich. Bake till its golden. I usually add a lot of white pepper to my sausage mixture but you don't have to.

Quiches are stupidly easy to make. It's basically egg pie and you can toss in anything you think would taste good with eggs. Veggies, bacon, ham, cheese, breakfast sausage, etc.
