Who do you guys pick to win? I am rooting for Aldo but I could see this fight going either way. McGregor does have his usual size and punching power advantage at 145 lbs. However, I think Aldo has better quickness & elusiveness plus his kicks can be devastating. Aldo also has an advantage on the ground.

If Also doesn't take him down, McGregor will knock him out

I think it would be a good strategy for Aldo to get a takedown(s) but he's probably thinking he can win in the standup game also.

Wildturkey, I don't think it would be "fun" if McGregor wins. He's the most disrespectful and arrogant fighter that I've ever heard. He may lose against Aldo. It is nearly certain he'll lose at 155lbs. The guys in that division are just as big or bigger than him and are much more well rounded fighters. Watching him lose after all his trash talking would be fun to see. His next press conference would probably be a lot different.

On a different note: What's with your quote? It seems to make light of a very serious subject. If you had a daughter and she told your wife she was raped would you joke about it? Some men have wives that were raped in their childhoods. There are so many other things to make jokes about rather than that.

That's exactly what makes it fun. You need characters to liven things up. It gets dull when every fighter says the same shit pre and post fight.

And the quote is from Step Brothers

Aldo is the superior fighter in nearly every way imaginable, so if he fights smart, then I think he wins easily, but if he gets careless, McGregor has the one-punch power to steal the belt from him.

McGregor's arrogance doesn't bother me that much, but I think he was given a title shot before he'd earned it in the octagon because of $$$.

It will be interesting to see what strategy Aldo uses. Aldo usually has such an advantage with his standup that he wants to keep the fight standing. I think McGregor can only win one way and that is with punches. Aldo could use some punishing kicks from the outside and mix in some takedowns. I think that Aldo will be more prepared to deal with a southpaw because of the injury delay that he had between the last scheduled fight.

I think you guys buy too much into the fight promotion that Connor does. While he is brash & over-the-top promoting his fights, he doesn't say anything inappropriate & once the fight is over, he has been very respectful to his opponents.

While I am no fan of the Chael Sonnen type trash talk, there is a place in the fight game for it. It gets people excited. Connor's fight promotion > Ronda's.

However, I think Aldo smashed him & submits him in round 3. Look for Aldo to bring back his leg chops in this fight.

McGregor cuts a lot of weight to fight at 145 lbs to be able to fight smaller guys. He then insults them by calling them "midgets, little guys" etc. I don't think it is just pre-fight buildup with him. I think he's really an arrogant & disrespectful person. He talks trash after his fights too not just before his fights.

Name one fighter he has fought in the UFC that he has trashed talked after fighting him.

He talked a lot of trash to Chad Mendes after their fight at the Go Big Press conference. If you can watch that and don't think he acts like a jerk after his fights then there is no convincing you.

Wildturkey,

I am looking forward to seeing the Weidman vs Rockhold fight too. Weidman is my favorite fighter. It's a tough matchup for him because Rockhold is a very well rounded fighter also. It will be interesting to see who has the advantage in grappling and wrestling. Weidman usually has a big advantage but Rockhold trains with world class level wrestlers in heavier divisions. Weidman is a finisher with his GnP & he has a lot of power with his punches in the standup. It should be a good fight.

Aldo's camp made a brilliant move by bringing Jonas Bilharinho in to train with Aldo. He has a very similar style as McGregor plus he is a southpaw.
