forty_three has suggested that next season's Pick 'ems should be for the top five spots, instead of merely the top three. If that were the case, I would think that a points structure as follows would be used:

1st place: 7 points
2nd place: 5 points
3rd place: 3 points
4th place: 2 points
5th place : 1 point
driver out of position: 1 point.

What do you folks think? I am open to all alternate suggestions.

I like it. Maybe we can trade out the DOOP points based on how far out of position they are? Not sure how the math woukd work though. I am a mathy type of guy (epidemiologist) and can play around a bit if others want to explore that.

Nah, I like the present system. The contest is Pick the Podium, not Pick the Top Five.

I like the points structure.

I wasn't thinking anything so elaborate. Like five points for a correctly placed driver, 2 points each for drivers out of position.

I was just thinking that Red Bull is going to have a crap engine next year, Williams has not closed the gap and Haas will not come out storming. So basically every race next year will be all of us choosing three of Hamilton, Rosberg, Vettel and Raikkonen. In order to give everyone a chance to close ground, we should make it top five. Add variables.

When I ran this contest for IndyCars on another forum board, I used to have a 'special pick' each time, which went something like this:

Driver X will finish: 1st-5th/6th-10th/etc..

... and award points for anyone who picked it correctly. - How would everyone feel about adding something like that into the mix?

That's easy;

Stevens - last on track.
