If the Dodgers win the series, please dont use the slide as the excuse... there are still 2 more wins to go...
Please dont be like that Cardinal fans blaming a bad call at first base on the the 85 series, even though there was still another game, or cub fans blaming bartman, even though there was another game, or red sox blaming buckner, even though there was another game...Just please dont be like other fanbases...:)

Or like Braves fans who bring up that wild card game where the ump waived off the ball dropping in the outfield even though there were more innings.

Hate to break it to you but thats just how baseball fans are

I actually dont...I even argue with other braves fans that if Chipper does not make the error, its a different game... if the Braves get a base hit in the 8th and 9th inning with the runners in scoring position, its a different game..

and actually, i thought i did type that in lol, i hate hearing that excuse

Not to be a complete and total asshole, but:

Why the fuck do you give a shit?

good question, Being a big fan of baseball, i hate hearing that a play in a game is what "lost it for them", but makng it sound like that they had no other chances...

Nah, I'm just messin with ya. I don't care for the "let's blame it on a single play" logic in most circumstances.

That is the good thing about playoff baseball. No time limit. As such, depth is more important than a lot of other sports so it appears to be random but imo the best team wins the World Series the vast majority of the time because that team is usually the deepest.

One play swings a series when teams are about even but usually if one team is better then they pull through. I'm not a big believer in momentum

All the talk here about that stupid fucking review in game 2 drove me nuts. Yeah, the best offense in baseball went dead quiet for 9 straight innings in a playoff game but let's focus on one play.

If the Mets lose to the Cubs it's because their pitchers had to throw more innings as a result of that bogus slide and review... :behindsofa:

Yeah, this particular item has been rendered moot by virtue of the Mets winning the series...

HOWEVER

We are still down one major league shortstop for the rest of the playoffs. While Flores is a much bigger threat to go yard than Tejada, Wilmer's defense - as we saw last night - is not always crisp. It would have been nice to have had the luxury of using both players in the LCS, but we move on.

Might actually see the rookie Matt Reynolds making his MLB debut in a playoff game!

Better not be one of those flashy Optima 40's I've had my eye on. Anyone caught defiling such a pristine example of form and function should have their scrotum stapled to their eyelids.

I strongly disagree. It does happen, but not the "vast majority" of the time.

Then again, it could be that you and I define the "best team" differently.

Take it easy on Wilmer, hu. He sees this coming from you, and he's liable to start crying.

Oh, shit. I think he heard you...

Probably. Roster depth obviously matters more than regular season accomplishments and perception has to catch up with reality. Like in my mind the Mets have no chance against the Cubs because I think the Cubs are a better team based on a bunch of variables. But what happens if the young Cubs players start acting young and start doing a bunch of things because they start choking up for whatever reason? It means they probably aren't the better team. So in a way, results create the perception regardless of statistics but the statistics themselves create the matchups that dictate everything in playoff baseball.

I think one of the major factors in great teams failing is poor coaching but one of the major factors in poor coaching is a limited roster so its possible that a team's weakness isn't shown until the postseason.
