GGG had just started fighting in the US, & knew he wasn't ready for Ward (who is/was #2 pound for pound) So yes that was intelligent of GGG. Because May weather is fighting at 147 and yeah they can do a catch weight at 154 but to me that still tilt things more in GGG favor. The masses would liked to see Mayweather lose but can we at least agree to pair him up with some one in his weight class. Brook would be good, Porter, Bradley, Mathtyssa, even Khan. Berto is the last person I thought he'd fight that should be on NBC. No way am I spending my hard earned cash on that fight.

Fighting Berto is not exactly the safest bet Mayweather could find.

Berto is not really a good boxer. But make no mistake, he has real good speed and more than enough power.
Now Mayweather is going to slice him up for most of this fight ..we all know this. But it could get interesting if Mayweather goes against the ropes like we see him do.

Berto has the speed and power to maybe get that 1 punch in and end the fight right there and then ....and the national celebration will commence.
