Think now is the time to start this thread with the draw coming out today.

The obvious talk of the draw is the Murray vs Kyrgios 1st round match up which is sure to be a night session match on Monday or Tuesday

murray vs kyrgios is the headliner first round match.

djokovic vs pospisil in round 2 will make canadians sad, i think. pospisil has the game to make a R16 if he gets a decent draw.

grampa haas has verdaso first round.

i like fish's draw. considering he's unseeded, he has a nice chance to make R3 or even R16 if he plays his best.

cilic got an awesome quarter.

fed would need 3-4 miracles to happen to even make the final.

from what i saw this summer, coric isn't quite ready to take out rafa at a major. maybe in a best of 3 match, but not quite yet at a major.

Not that many. After seeing Marion Fatoli win Wimbledon without facing a top 10 player, I think anything can happen for sure.

bartoli had about 10 miracles happen for the draw to unfold for her like it did, so thanks for bringing that up.

fed got about the best draw he could ever hope for, and any real tennis fan still wouldn't be surprised to see him go out in the quarters or sooner.

there's a reason he hasn't made a final in new york since 2009, and hasn't won a hard court major at all since 2010: his backhand always breaks down in a best of 5 match on a high bouncing surface with an opponent who uses topspin to make him hit balls up around his ears the whole time. robredo, lol. and even berdych, who hits about the flattest ball imaginable.

His game has changed over the last year. He is not the guy who was helpless against Nadal. His game has changed a bit.

His backhand has been much better this year then in years past. The larger racquet has helped it dramatically. He is also been very active at net and using the kamikaze returns to keep opponents off balance.

Sharapova just pulled out of the US Open

I have been watching some of the old matches for the womens championships. The level of play has dropped trmendously in the last year. Even Serena does not look like she is playing anywhere near the level of last years championships. Despite actually looking better physically, she looks to have lost a step. Her quickness and accuracy has decreased.

What does this say about womens tennis when she is playing worse than a year ago and still winning?

Thoughts on him coming in on 2nd serves, as shown in the video below?

Men's Draw:

Djokovic's Quarter
:

Verdasco - Haas 1st Round:

I always root for Haas, but he doesn't win most of the time, the past 4 years. So I'll go with Verdasco in 3.

Raonic - Verdasco 2nd round
:

Raonic is younger and steadier. So I'll go with him in 3.

Raonic - Nadal 4th round:

Based on Nadal's form lately, Raonic in 4.

Djokovic - Raonic QF:

I don't see Raonic winning a set here, Djokovic is good against big servers. Djokovic in 3.

Nishikori's Quarter:

Monfils - Tsonga 3rd Round:

I've been down on Tsonga for almost a year. Monfils in 4.

Monfils - Nishikori 4th round:

Nishikori makes fewer errors. So he should have that advantage by a lot.

But I'm feeling Monfils.

Monfils in 5.

Cilic - Monfils QF:

Got to go with the defending champ. Cilic in 5. But Cilic won't have an easy match.

Wawrinka's Quarter:

Wawrinka - Simon 4th round:

I don't know if Simon can make it this far, he's not as predictable. But if he does, he has a shot in this one. I'll still go with Wawrinka in 4, but this could be an upset.

Murray - Krygios 1st round:

I think Murray wins in 3 with 2 tight sets, and 1 double break set.

Wawrinka - Murray QF:

Wawrinka has beaten Murray twice here (2009, 2013).

Murray looks really good. I'm making this pick a little on hope though. Wawrinka in 4. I think it might be time for Murray to win though, just because that's how rivalries work. One player wins a few, then the other player wins a few. I think it might be Murray's time. But I'll still pick Wawrinka on hope.

FED's Quarter
:

Tipsarevic - Garcia-Lopez 1st round
:

This could be a good 5 setter. I don't know if Tipsarevic is ready to be back to playing his best. I'll go with Garcia-Lopez in 4, but am rooting for Tipsarevic.

Mahut - Querrey 1st round:

It's time for an upset pick. Mahut in 4.

Kokkinakas - Berdych 4th round:

I think Kokkinakas has a good run in him. Not sure he's ready to beat Berdych. Berdych in 4.

FED - Isner 4th round:

I could see Isner losing earlier to Youzhny in the 3rd. But if he makes it this far, I think FED will get him in 4.

Djokovic - Cilic SF:

Cilic is due to win one against Djokovic. They've had some good matches.

Djokovic is 13-0 though, and he's great here.

Maybe this is just a bad matchup for Cilic. As in he'll just about never beat him.

Djokovic in 3.

Wawrinka vs FED SF:

I don't know who will win. FED has the huge advantage in H2H, but Wawrinka has shown nearly the past 3 years that he can beat anyone on a given day.

I like both players, so this is tough to watch.

FED in 4.

Djokovic vs. FED Finals:

FED has a shot. The 3 of 5 thing worries me.

If FED is to win, it has to be in 4 sets or less.

Djokovic in 5.

Women's Draw
:

Serena's Quarter
:

Serena to the QF.

Ivanovic's Quarter:

I have no idea who comes out of this. I'll just pick Cibulkova. Even though she's had a bad year.

Kvitova's Quarter:

Kvitova - Muguruza 4th round:

Even though Muguruza is ranked worse, I think she's better on this surface. But I think Kvitova will surprise people with a 3 set win.

Kvitova - Wozniacki QF:

I think Kvitova wins in 3, but am rooting for Wozniacki.

Halep's Quarter
:

I could see Pironkova, Sarafova, or Azarenka having a better run than Halep. I'll go with Azarenka to come out of this quarter.

Serena - Cibulkova SF:

This won't be a good match.

Serena in 2.

Kvitova - Azarenka QF:

I know Kvitova doesn't do as well on hard courts.

But maybe she changes that a little this time.

I'll take Kvitova in 3.

Serena - Kvitova Finals:

On grass, I think this is a great matchup.

On hard courts? It has a chance to be good.

But I don't think Kvitova has enough to beat Serena. I think Muguruza would have posed a better threat.

Serena in 3.

The Fish match already started.

Verdasco - Haas will be the match I watch tonight. I might have to watch it on stream, because I don't know if ESPN will show much of it.

In addition to the evening 1st day ceremony, and such.

I saw about a set and a half of the Kei-Paire match. People will report that Kei was feeling the pressure (and they'd be right), but realistically the gap in their strokes isn't that big. Kei's got the better backhand, but everything else is even. Paire is just normally mentally weak and he wasn't today.
