Microsoft has confirmed that Halo 5, now known officially as Halo 5: Guardians, will be released on Xbox One during the fall of 2015, but has also reiterated that the Halo "journey" will continue this year.

"Making a Halo game that runs at 60 frames per second, on dedicated servers, with the scope, features, and scale we’ve been dreaming of for more than a decade, is non-trivial," said 343 Industries general manager Bonnie Ross. "It’s a task that we, at 343 Industries, are taking very seriously to ensure we deliver the Halo game that fans deserve, and a game that is built from the ground up for Xbox One."

"Halo 5: Guardians is a bigger effort than Halo 4," continued Ross. "That applies to the content and scope of the game, as well as the technology in what’s now a brand new and more powerful engine. Certainly there are some core elements carried over from prior games, but we’ve invested a huge effort in retooling our tech to take full advantage of the Xbox One’s hardware and ecosystem to create worlds and experiences worthy of next-gen."

And looks like a Halo tv series may be in the works. There has always been talk of a Halo movie, but if Spielberg is involved, they're seriously in the process of a tv series.

"Ross also confirmed that the live-action Halo TV series, which sees 343 Industries team up with Steven Spielberg to bring Master Chief to life, may also debut around the same time as Guardians."

FWIW, there are 2 Halos TV series coming (along with "Xbox TV"). 1 directed by Spielberg.

ALSO, its rumored that a Halo: Master Chief Collection could come out this fall to Xbox One. (Halo 1-4). All remastered.

If true...

WANT.

It is, but at least good to know they are already far into production of it, and it will be produced with the Xbox One in mind pushing the limits of it's hardware. Halo is truly the "Halo product" for the Xbox console and Microsoft Game studios. They could of easily said adios after 3, but smartly got the rights back from Bungie and continued with it. And Halo 4 was very well done from gameplay and cinematics. Appears it's in good hands right now.

Some great games coming this fall in the meantime.

I pretty much stopped playing Halo once they started throwing jetpacks and energy rechargers into loadouts. The best thing about Halo 1-3 is that you had to fight for control of the good weapons, vehicles, invisibility, and the overshield.

60 frames per second? It has my attention at least. Not a huge Halo fan but I think there is a lot of potential in the FPS SciFi Spacedude arena so who knows.

:agree:

Jetpacks, energy shields, etc are absurd. They made me instantly hate the game and quit playing it after playing Halo 1-3 for countless years. Never once considered another game until ODST & Reach came about. They ruined it for me. Now all I play is COD.

Nothing will ever come close to being better than Halo 3 was. Competitively speaking, that was probably the best online game ever made IMO. I logged years of my life into Team Deathmatch on that game lol.

Halo 3 was the best ever. I wish they didn't change it so much from game to game.

Agreed on the Halo 3 comments. Countless hours were put in to that game.

Halo 4 ruined the MP experience for me... hope they revert back to a simpler style of play. (Like 2 & 3)

I would pretty much only play Halos 1 and 2.

Agree. I loved halo, have all the games and used to be hugely into it. Like I read the books(aside from the second they were actually good, the first is pretty classic.) but I've had no fucking idea what's been going on in the storyline since the third game. The storyline and gameplay are both mediocre at best, it's pretty sad to see them milk the franchise for all it's worth, even though they do that with everything these days.

Halo 5?s Multiplayer Is All About Movement

A lot of that sounds really cool. The Halo games are one of the few that I'll actually play multiplayer modes. Everything is just perfectly balanced. None of this "the more you play, the better weapons you get" nonsense that takes away all the fun for casual gamers like myself. I don't have the time anymore to spend 16 hours a day just to unlock some armor that keeps me from getting killed upon spawning. (I miss college...)
