I still say it was suicide.

Smoke has been my second favorite driver since he started in NASCAR. At first he was second to Dale Sr, after Dale died, he was second to Kevin Harvick.

I agree. The kid threw a temper tantrum and it cost him his life. It is a shame, but I have a hard time blaming Tony for this kid's death.

This one will be settled out of court. The last thing Stewart wants is a protracted legal case. Tony is quite wealthy, not as wealthy as Junior, but he'll write a check to make this one go away.

Yep, douggie. Once you get a slimy lawyer hovering around a tragedy, periodically whispering in the ear of the bereaved, it is only a matter of time. The imbecile that suggested suicide doesn't know the clinical definition of the same.

Tony shouldn't have hit the gas. I do believe Tony was in the wrong in his actions, but I don't at all believe Tony had any intent on killing that kid. It seems to be taking it's toll on Tony, as it's something he has to live with every single day. It's looking like he might just need to retire and as if it's effectively ended his career as a driver.

I'm guessing this gets settled out of court as well.

Yep 4down20 I totally agree and there are several articles out there stating the same about Stewart. It has taken its toll and he has lost his competitive motivation similarly as to what happened to Kyle Petty when Adam was killed.

I feel bad for the family but the kids stupidity is what got him killed. Everyone watching the film just has this assumption that's what Tony was seeing as well when the fact is it happened in a poorly lit corner with no spotter. Someone else almost hit him as well. Maybe there was a little intent there but I didn't see any evidence of it from the videos.

The fact that the Toxicology report came back positive for weed doesn't bode well for the Ward Family's case going anywhere of significance. Tony will probably write a check and that will be the end of it although his lawyer is playing the waiting game and has made it known the lawsuit is going to lose a lot of steam because of that Toxicology report.

Probably right, but the whole weed angle is bullshit in reality, so ignorance will win the day on that one.

How so? It's pretty well documented that weed affects the brain and leads to impaired short-term memory, perception, judgment and motor skills.

And it's been pretty well documented that farts contribute to greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. But that doesn't mean your next fart is going to melt the polar ice caps.

So it's kind of like yeah, but the effects are minimal and it's really just the fact of "omg pot" that is at work here.

It depends on what the levels are. You could smoke a bowl in the morning and be perfectly level headed to do anything in the afternoon/night but that test is still gonna show positive for weed. It doesn't even have to be the same day. It's still gonna register for a few days after the toke. The level of testing is murky right now and as weed becomes more legal, its something that's going to have to be addressed. I'm not trying to start up a debate or anything, just saying that weed being present in the blood doesn't mean a person was impaired at that moment. It lingers in your system long after the effects wear off.
