You are entitled to your lame opinion and your take on this topic isn't what I would consider stellar.

Go back to the political forum and let the real baseball fans talk.

Because they expect to contend with many of the same pieces next year. They unloaded Harry, who obviously wasn't part of the plan. Only other pieces they might've sold would be Choo, Mitch, and Beltre. But Choo and Beltre's values are nill right now and they'll need Mitch if they expect to contend next season. If Choo gets dumped :hope: it will happen this winter. It was never gonna happen at the deadline.
You mean other than Gallardo and Colby? Either of those two could have been traded if the front office didn't think we were contenders this year. Our contending next year and beyond has nothing to do with those two staying here the rest of this year.

1) They must've decided the compensation pick was more valuable than the offers they received.

2) Again, JD must've felt keeping Colby was more valuable than any offer they received. There's q lot to consider here.

Outside of a pennant race Colby being here isn't nearly as valuable though. Now if they think we are going to be in a pennant race then Colby is very valuable. Of course they get a comp pick if Colby leaves too I guess, even though I haven't really heard anything about that possibility. They probably figure he takes them up on a QO anyway. I do wonder what Colby would have brought back in trade. I never really heard him mentioned in any specific trade rumors.

Colby would definitely take a QO so there would be no comp pick.

I think I got it figured out. Banny doesn't let Colby pitch in National League league parks because he doesn't want him batting. His hip must not hold up well to batting and running to first. JD only deals with NL teams so that means no one can trade for him since he can't bat. Now, why didn't I think of that before. lol

The Rangers gave up too much talent.

I disagree. But that's why we have this forum to begin with.

The Harrison move in this trade was unexpected, but I thought brilliant. As much as I/we/us like and wish him the best, his likelihood of ever returning to form is very slim.

I hated to give up Williams, but we had to jettison LH bats, and we kept the top two in our organization.

Also, hated to give up Thompson. But I've seen just as many who I "hated to give up" fall-off-a-cliff as not.

Ya gotta give up something to get something, in most cases.

The fact that you've heard him admit to being a hard partier should only lend credence to my account, no?

If it came across I was questioning your credibility, sorry. I wasn't.

For me, I've done too many silly, ridiculous things in my life - some, perhaps many of which while I've over-served myself - I'd love to have back, I can't cast a stone. That's all I was saying.

They people to take the mound for the rest of the year, Colby helps keep Chi Chi and others from being rushed, and its pretty obvious he has some work left to do still

Gallardo I'm guessing the offers weren't up to what they thought they could get from a comp pick or just keep Gallardo around next year at least
