I was thinking that the Jays need a new nickname and considering who owns them, how about The Big Ted Machine?

Maybe I'm asking too much but if he can get his hands on a starter that moves Hutch and pushes Dickey to fifth in the rotation I'll be in heaven.

For as fast as he is, Revere is pretty terrible defensively. Do you think he'd definitely be a starter for the Jays? I don't know their outfield situation very well.

He would be starting for them

AJ Preller is so so so dumb. So dumb. Just...dumb. He stood pat because he thinks they can make the playoffs. What world do you live in? Five teams make it, and two of those spots you can't take. That means you can take one of three spots, and there are four teams ahead of you for the second wild card, five for first and three for division. And frankly, they're 10.5 back of the Pirates, 7.5 back of Giants, 8 back of Dodgers. They need four of the Pirates, Cardinals, Dodgers, Giants, Mets, Cubs, and DBacks to fail, in some cases miserably, or both of Dodgers and Giants to completely fall out of it. Not happening.

There's always the August waiver period to get something done - I think he was trying to pull off a blockbuster and those types of deals are hard to do right at the deadline because there are so many moving pieces

He definitely should have moved Justin Upton though because I don't think he would re-sign there

Most of the pieces the Padres can move, though, will be very tough to get through a waiver deal. It's an awful risk to take.

Very weak. Bautista is the only constant and his shoulder has been fucked up all year since he tried throwing out an Oriole at first because he was angry at him. They got Saunders in the offseason but he fucked up his knee in Spring and has been on the DL basically all season. They've been running out some pretty terrible fielding outfielders (see Colabello, Chris, who has been a pleasure at the plate but a nightmare in the field because he is so god damn out of position).

He's going to be batting 9th, if at all. Gets on base about as much as Valencia so Gibbons will likely platoon them. Also useful as a pinch runner. Just a good piece to have for cheap.
