Revere is traded for a player to be named. Sounds like the Phillies just dumped him. Jays system is barren after other trades. Can not wait to see who we get!

So they dumped my man Revere. Giving up a speedy .300 hitter / 50 SB guy annoys me. But I suppose they feel Hernandez and Odubel are adequate for the future alongside the Nick Williams acquisition. Plus I haven't heard who the Phils are getting in return. We need more power so I assume that's in their ideas. The bastards. :bawling:

Things just keep getting better and better. First an arrogant prick is traded and then we get rid of Ben "I have to slide past the bag" Revere

Jimmy Cordero and Alberto Tirado for Revere

Both seem like warm bodies more or less. Bullpen if guys if your lucky. The one kid can hit 103 MPH but has nothing else. The other can't seem to hit the strike zone. Doesn't really matter at this point so Revere is gone and we probably see Altherr now.

Not sure how you've come to your conclusions? We finally get rid of a noodle-arm, punch and judy slap hitter and pickup 2 young kids with potential. Tirado is just 21 and has been ranked in the Jays top 10 prospects. The other is 23 and yes he throws consistently 100+ mph. Looks like he is figuring out his control problems and was promoted to AA. Looks like a great deal to me.

What conclusion do you have a issue with? Aside from the fact that we all know Revere sucks. That doesn't change the reports about the two pitchers we got.

There are 40 teams. The top ten prospects for all means 400 players. 70% or 280 will never make it. The Phillies just got 8 prospects or so. Kiss 5 goodbye. Too bad we can't drop them now to same cash. But we've got to hope the three that make it are real, real good if they survive. This is why I lusted for a #1 or #2 for Hamels.

I am taking the wait-and-see approach. Some prognosticators on here are going to be able to say "I told you so" and someone else is going to have eat crow.

Revere is actually having a pretty good year, and he was one of the most likeable players on the team. That being said, I don't know if he was going to be part of the rebuild anyway. He's still 27, but when speed is your main asset it is tough to sustain the production he's given them this year. Look at how Michael Bourn dropped off. I hope he does a great job in Toronto. I'd love to see him get a chance to be in the playoffs.

There's plenty of speed in the future cast also. Quinn, Crawford, Cesar, etc. So I think it won't affect the team negatively assuming the hitting continues to improve. We're all patient fans by now.

Both young Dominicans are extreme long shots. In four years, they each played in 80 games or so. Amazing, for a .300 hitter/50 SB guy, the FO agrees to get guys like this. wtf.

Jimmy Cordero, 24 in Oct., RHP, 4 yrs, A/AA, 80 games, 129 K, 69 BB
Alberto Tirado, 20, RHP, Rated #76 Prospect, 4 yr, Rk/A, 87 games, 3.36, 220 K, 139 BB

The Phillies farm is where raw players go to die. These two guys will fit right in.

Thank God they landed Nola instead of some raw schmuck that year. Bit of luck for the fans here that the front office couldn't find a guy they wanted to screw up on.

Instead of doing their usual thing, and drafting some toolsy schmuck that couldn't learn the game by the time he was out of high school, they actually got Nola who can really actually play. Lucky for the fans that the Phillies didn't do their normal thing in that situation.

The Phillies don't have many major league talented players because they waste most their picks on guys that aren't real ball players. They're "toolsy" and they never live up to it. The most egregious example was Domonic Brown. How did no one in the organization know this guy was an idiot? They must have known it but the sad thing is they thought they could teach it out of him. LOL. Nope. He was called a 5 tool player when he couldn't even field as well as some little leaguers. That shit is embarrassing and they tried to sell us on him for a decade.

Domonic Brown was drafted in the 20th round.
