Was just going to post Zubs being put on waivers... wow... we are getting a makeover... I was a fan of Zubs, not going to hide but there are times to call for a depart and now is as good as any....

good luck to him!

Exactly. He was a valuable part of the team for a bunch of years but his usefulness for this team has long expired. Plenty of cap space so the cap hit doesn't matter and there are a number of guys that can fit his role. Elias will be the only old guy (35+) playing this year.

Yeah one year deal. It's pretty sad that the kids in Albany are so bad they can't even be given the role up here. I think we are a lotto team this year. Shame we are wasting corys best years

Signing a vet to the league minimum equals a shitty season? You do need some bodies to put on the ice, he's only 27 and he did put up 23 goals not too long ago and with Boucher's concussion it's nice insurance. Low risk, high reward move, I'll take it.

Glad to have hockey back. Summer took forever. Bring on the cooler temps.
Tlusty low risk move AND no NTC. This is also a potential guy you can trade at deadline for a pick too.

Just saw that Sunday's preseason game against Boston will be televised. Nice change for once. In past, we could only watch preseason against the NY teams.

Boucher with the concussion worries me. They say he is doing well, but its not in his best interest to miss too much time in training camp. Hope he can suit up soon.

come on how many times have we been sold the "low risk & high reward" line? ryder/brunner/havlat come to mind. i'm not saying the season is a lost because we signed him. yes we need bodies in this lineup but it should be young kids from albany buuuuuuuuut i'm saying we can't do that because the kids we have suck.

this is a "lost" season meaning playoffs. for us to make the 8th seed cory would need to have an MVP type season. i hope he does but lets be honest i dont think thats happening. it should be a fun year watching a more youthful team though thats for sure

Yea but the key is Shero didn't give Tlusty a NTC or multi year deal. I think that move was made mostly because of Boucher suffering an early concussion. There was interest, and when Reid was out, they pulled trigger.

I don't expect playoffs at all. I am just ready to watch hockey again. If this team makes the playoffs this season, Hynes and Shero will be coach and GM of the year.

yeah i definitely agree playoffs easily makes them coach/gm of the year.

i also forgot i do agree with you he is instant trade bait at the deadline esp if he put up 15g. i'm thinking shero wouldn't have a problem shipping him out at the deadline unlike lou....gomez wouldve been a nice prize to ship even for a 4th

Anybody watch last night? I saw end of 2nd and part of 3rd. They got shut out but looked like they out shot Boston for whatever that is worth. 3rd period was chippy. Devils seemed to take a lot of penalties. Zacha looked decent from what I saw. Tough to judge because overall, it was a typical sloppy first preseason game for both teams.

Saw the line up for tonight. Can't say I am too thrilled to see guys like Gionta and Pelley out there. Rather their spots be taken by some rookies that I never seen before.

Pelley is just up to be with the kids, he'll be the captain in Albany. I like Gio but agree I'd rather have a younger player in this year. Don't mind him as a healthy scratch/emergency fill in. I hate when we have a high potential kid sitting in the booth night after night (see DeBoer/Larrson fiasco), Rather have then in Albany if they aren't playing here and have a low cost vet sit and occasionally fill in

Boucher skating and practicing again. Lets hope that concussion was a one time freak injury.

They looked better in the first. Pretty much ripped the Bs apart. Second and especially in they looked a bit gassed. Like Hynes said, they haven't even touched the PP or the PK yet, since the Vets were in camp like one day before going to Providence. Special Teams decided it. Rico and Palms easily could have made that game 3-0 early. Bs were very lucky.
