I see the jets trading down for more picks if MM is there. They hold all the cards and need numerous positions. Makes sense to me. They could still take Bryce Petty in the second who I think is highly underrated.

I think Petty is too, certainly has the talent to be a solid QB in a few years. If they can fill in other needs, get him some more playmakers, he could be a good fit for them while getting value at other places

I never said you stated anything Retro.

Just pointing to some recent facts about Coug that may cause us pause to his suggestion.

Oh, what's the percentage of QB needy teams?

That figure is probably more indicative of his interest pool.

I mean, is it really fair to factor in teams with a Brady, Manning, Wilson, Brees, Rodgers, Manning, Newton, Rivers and others?

Don't quite know the answer to that question, Vita but if you have those QBs, I would think the team's interest in Sammie as a viable starter would be limited. Those teams surely would not have traded what Philly did to get Bradford especially if Bradford would up holding a clipboard with that huge salary. So, I am leaning toward my initial assertion that the interest pool of other teams is/was limited and not as extensive as Cougar and Mutigers1fan would indicate by their recent posts.

Snisher have stated from the very beginning that they wanted Foles. So perhaps, Snisher are contemplating working a trade involving MM at the 10 spot. We shall see. Stay tuned on this one.

The first hurdle will be Tenn at 2 but man if I'm Tenn I'm going Defense. So many options. Williams is a beast. Then if your not sold on mettenberger take Petty or Hundley in the 2nd rd. The Jets are who im having trouble with passing on him. Even though I don't see him having success in windy cold NY in a different system.

Well we just disagree on how to calculate this...

I say there are about a dozen QB needy teams and that comes to a 33% interest pool of teams who may need to make a change.

I never said Bradford was in high demand, just that there was more demand for him than Foles who I haven't heard any team show interest in other than the Rams.

Chip made the trade for Bradford because he doesn't want to give the farm. Trading up to #10 doesn't cost as much as trading into the top 5 though so if he realizes it may not take the farm he may still go for it.

That is true with the Jets. I can see them wanting to get a lot of picks and move back but that might be to high and expensive at 6 for Chip to move up. Big difference to get to 6 vs 10.

Absolutely, I think you guys could be in a fantastic position if MM falls. Would you want him as your QB if you can't get the big package?

that would be crazy but I can't see them trading Manning I don't think he would like that very much. and most teams can't handle his 20m cap hit. maybe Bryce Petty or Hundley at 28 would be a cheaper option.

Hundley is trash.

Bradford's value comes from his action (as little as it was) in the NFL. Like I've said he can make all the throws with velocity and accuracy in tight windows. This is what GM's see in real game action. MM or any rookie simply has not proven he can even play in the NFL and that scares the hell out of GMs because if u miss on a QB at the top of the draft you are forever tied to that pick. So that's why a team like Tenn would rather take Bradford vs the unknown in MM. It was said a few weeks ago that teams picking at the top of the draft prefer Bradford over JW and MM. Now of course they are exceptions when u have a guy like Manning or Luck come out but those are usually coming from a pro style system and you can tell they are elite.

I would take the package. I don't know if Fisher or this coaching staff would know how to put him in a position to succeed. We are better off getting as much talent all over and a QB like Foles as long as he doesn't turn into a turnover machine should be fine to get the job done imo. Like Clayton said if you bring MM in I see QB controversy hot seat galore

No one is taking Bradford & his $10+ mil a season new contract in 2016 over Winston & his $22.5 mil over 4 years contract. The team control & his potential alone make him far more attractive than Bradford. Bradford's injury history outweighs the fact that Winston is a dummy off the field.

The Titans already have their QB. They are all in on the Berger train for at least one more season.

All this talk about teams possibly trading up for MM is identical to last years talk with Manziel. We all know how that ended...

Don't go down the road Davis_Mike. Cougar and this board have had an extensive discussion on that very vein of the argument. You get Cougar going again, we may have to get out a fire extinguisher-again.

Well, a third of the teams might be interested but only two had the moxy to actually offer something. 33% isn't exactly lighting up the high interest board that was set in motion by Cougar's and other's posts, Vita. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and the notion there is a disagreement here. I have no problem with a disagreement, as you well know.

Hey Retro, Coug was right about Sam having any trade value.........

He was right about Murray wanting to sign with the Eagles because of Sam.......

So now maybe the only thing Coug is 'stretching' is our own paradigms....

:noidea:

Sorry, but I watched Murrays press comments after he signed, he mentioned almost everyone but Sammie, he signed for the money and Philly does have some pieces to win, no where did I see that it was because of Sammie, oh but he did call him, I guess that convinced him? Really!

We got very lucky that Philly took Sammie off our hands, ya we got value out of him, but that's only because Philly overvalued him!
And if Coug is right, why are we only hearing about Cleveland wanting to trade for him, if everyone loves Sammie as Coug says, than there should be a butt load of other teams that want to trade their number 1 pick for Sammie! I mean why wouldn't you, he has played in 49 games over the past 6 years, what team wouldn't want to gamble on that? Oh that's right the Rams didn't want to anymore, because they actually knew what they "didn't" have in him! You would think other "smart" teams would see that a team that has seen Sammie over the past 5 years was willing to give up on him, must be a reason?

I agree with you but I think you would be surprised how long Tampa would think about that. JW besides his off field adventures threw a ton of interceptions last year. If he does that in college if I'm a GM I'm thinking shit what is he going to do agains NFL defensive schems and NFL CB's glued to the WR's. But I agree the new cheap pay scale makes the decision easier.

I think with Manziel and even say RG3 it was different because Chip knows exactly what he is getting with MM so it really isn't a gamble. I agree I don't see another team moving up for him besides chip if he comes in range.

Famous Jameis led all Power Conference QB's on INT's last year, doesn't exactly scream can't miss prospect to me.

The flip side of that is that Chip knows exactly what he would be getting with MM & doesn't want him because of that. It's speculation. But if you look at Phi recent moves, everything is pointing towards Chip not trading up for MM.

This is a point that can't be over emphasized. NFL coaches don't know college players because they can't spend the time with them to do so. Chip knows MM as well as anyone.
