This is the most excited I’ve been before a season started since ‘07.

If Will and other key offensive players stay healthy, we should have a top 5 offense this year. Dana expects the offense to average 45 pts/gm, and I think this is a reasonable goal.

WVU’s defense is going to be good this fall, and has the potential to be really good. The key to success of our defense has always been the Nose and FS. When we’ve been solid at those two positions, the rest has fallen into place. Bigelow has a history of injury, but the kid was a 5 star coming out of HS. Reportedly, he is completely healthy. He will be a man playing against boys. Kenny Robinson is as good of a FS today as we’ve had at this position in the past. Rose came on strong the 2nd half of last season. Jabril Robinson and Stills manning one side of the DL will be a major upgrade from Reece and Co last year.

With a solid DL, our LB’s will flourish like we’ve seen in the past when we’ve had a good DL in front of them. Anyone remember the LB Corps of ‘05? That’s what I’m talking about. Long and Tonkery will excel without OT/OG banging on them in running plays.

Our safeties will match the ‘05 group in proficiency.

Get ready boys...

It’s happening in just over 2 weeks. Tennessee will get the shit stomped out of them. Going to be a beautiful thing...

We have a favorable schedule early in the season and hopefully we can get through the first 8 without a loss. Then the B12 gauntlet comes in. Who is still healthy by the time we get to the last 4 and to Oklahoma to finish off the season. We have some good players, but depth is always the issue. Stay healthy and we have some real potential.

I try not to get overhyped when we look like this. WVU has the knack of doing below expectations when everyone expects us to do well and do great when we are underdogs. Cant wait to see them against Tennessee.

I’ve spent too many years thinking... I don’t want to get too hyped. Fuck it.

If the team goes to shit by year’s end, how will it be any different for any of us who grew excited through the first 8 games?

Get hyped now. This could be special. I’m going to enjoy every fucking moment...

I will enjoy every moment also. But I'm not getting giddy or purchasing playoff tickets early. Lots of things have to go right for us to even get to 8-0.

10 years removed, I'm still have PTSD from 13-9

I think Kennedy McKoy will have a lot to say of just how far this team goes...

From what I’ve read, the RB’s are all looking good. Pettaway had a great summer camp, and Leddie Brown has been quite impressive too.

How do you work 4 RB’s into a rotation? Dana said Sinkfield has the most wiggle he’s seen since Tavon was here.

I think it will be who is the best back that can catch the ball out of the backfield that will get the most reps...I think Mckoy is that guy..

Love your optimism BB. I am cautiously optimistic. I still remember KANSAS running through us like sh*t through a tin horn with a healthy Grier, I remember us struggling to beat a 1 win Baylor, I remember a dipstick coaching call costing us our stud QB for the rest of the season.
I hope you are spot on, I hope we make the CCG or more but I'd be lying if I said I didn't have some serious concerns.

Most complete team Dana has had at WVU Y/N?

This will also be one of if not THE toughest schedule in WVU history, can this team navigate that?

You might be right.

I believe the kid who can bust a play outside by reading the pressure will be the guy. Our RB’s have had such poor vision... such poor feel for pressure the past few years.

I think we have one or two who will break open the running game for us this year.

Will any of the kids who started on the DL against UK be starting for WVU this fall?

Not sure why a bootleg call was so bad. It’s not like Will’s injury wasn’t a freak occurrence or anything. I think Will’s buddy Sills V missed a block on the play... or Will walks into the damn end zone.

There is depth all over the roster this year. Man... I’m fucking pumped!!

Freak injury or no that injury is on Dana imo. You MUST make it crystal clear in August that Will Grier doesn't run EVER unless he is under pressure and any designed runs would result in Spav being fired after the game. Especially with wildcat Chuggs as our backup plan.

Agree, Im ok with playing WG to get numbers for a possible Heisman run, just not running him on a designed run play. Scrambling and it happens then, no prob, it happens.

From what I've read, Allison is having a great camp. He has demonstrated a full grip of the offense, and his reported big arm... is no longer just a report.

The team has bought in too. WR's have had a lot of good things to say...

I hear ya man!

I disagree for this simple reason... IMO... Will is exposed when throwing the ball. He is at the mercy of his OL sustaining his protection, and kids are coming full steam to knock him out! There is a greater risk of injury to the QB in a collapsed pocket... mad scramble... than a basic bootleg.

There are risks in this game. I personally don't feel the risk to injury from a called run play is greater than what I've outlined.

His injury last year was a freak accident...things like that are going to happen on a football field..
