Melvin couldn't laugh at the Mariners though. The team won despite him being a terrible manager at the time. Him being fired for choking away division leads led him to becoming a manager who is solid with young and inexperienced players.

What transpired in the 9th inning is actually why Gamel needs to be up here.

He could have hit for either Romine instead of Hermann or Maybin. Maybe nothing changes but those are the kind of spots you need a competent bench for. Having Gamel in Tacoma while Romine still wastes ABs in playoff race goes beyond poor roster management.

Exactly.... He also could've Pitch run the other night for Nelson as well - instead it resulted in a DP... There is a much bigger gap on offense between Gamel and Heredia than there is on defense, which is why I never understood why they did what they did... Heredia has been a major liability at the plate since Gamel went down... He is 1 for 18, 0 Runs/RBI's since then and his only hit is a bunt...

This is what you should expect from a guy coming off of TJ surgery in his first full season...DIP should have also expected this before the season started...as well as the decline of Felix.

good point...and we have been waiting for that extra pitcher long enough as well.....if they dont have one going into next
year there is something wrong.....maybe there is already but ..they always know before...we do
( like having cano work at 3B)...lol

and they leave it for us to figure it out on our own.....lol

Mariners lineup for today:

It's a bit unconventional but I like the structure of the lineup. You have the two speedsters at #8 and #9 followed by Haniger, Cano, Segura and Cruz.

On paper the Mariners actually have a pretty good lineup. Sucks that Seager has been abysmal this year. Had Cano played the entire year and if Seager was hitting like he did in 2016 - or even 2017 - this team would be at least 4 wins better IMO.

the pitchers learned how to pitch seager....seager has not made a change in return....no change =no move forward=falling behind

same story....for those who will not change....unfortunately

for example
if the music is in 4x4 and then changes to 8x8...and and you do not change with it..... you are left behind

It's only a mistake when you get caught. Not sure how the testing works (assuming it's random), he was probably on a cycle (roiding) and got tested at the wrong time.

Wouldn't be surprised if he's been using for his entire career, he just got tested at the wrong time.

He has been making adjustments to his swing, nothing has really fixed the issue yet though.

Gamel hitting .418 down in Tacoma since being demoted... Also made an amazing catch to save a few runs...

Completely forgot about Gamel's existence.

Mariners have kind of a logjam at OF right now with Haniger, Heredia, Span, Maybin and (maybe) Dee Gordon.

IMO I think Heredia needs to be in AAA more than Gamel.
