I have Utah around a 4-7 seed (4 being generous). But I agree with you on this.

Likewise. Expecting Utah to do what they did last season is crazy. They went 29-6 to end the year

I think they're a high 40 type of team

Very similar to what Miami did 2 years ago.

Utah is a good team, but people are overreacting to their hot streak. They very well could emerge as the best of the pack behind Houston, but it would not take a whole lot going wrong to push them out of the playoffs all together.

The Jazz definitely could wind up missing the playoffs. Injuries to Gobert, Mitchell or Rubio could be devastating.

But on paper they have a pretty solid team.

I agree.

Not disparaging them in any way.

I just think that teams like Denver, Minnesota, LAL, SA etc. Are pretty good too. None of them are locks to make the playoffs because of the depth in the West.

I disagree on Minnesota. Don't be surprise if Butler is gone and they're a .500 team or something.

What is the point of keeping him? To make the playoffs, lose in the 1st round, and watch him walk away for nothing next summer?

Sure.

If they trade Butler, Minny falls clearly beneath that group.

As is? There are right there.

Yeah for sure. I think even with Butler for a full season, they still miss the playoffs barely IMO

If Minnesota had Snyder then the Wolves are in the running for the 2 seed. With Thibs I bet 6 as the ceiling.

Utah could reach as high as the 4 seed. I like Favors a lot, but they could really have used a stretch 4 to work with Gobert. Crowder will cover that sometimes I imagine.

I will say 5th seed.

Because of Gobert, they are one of the best defensive teams in the league and will always have a chance to win a game versus any team during the regular season.

Unfortunately, because they have Gobert, this reverses itself in the playoffs against teams like HOU/GS because of his inability to guard the perimeter.
