So knowing that "not all reports have been released", you don't think it's possible a report has the 'Arrest' box checked?
You just let me know when that report comes out, buddy. Otherwise, keep on coming up with conspiracy theories

Seriously, glad it was a great show. Did the kids like it?

Sort of.

We took the older two, who are 7- and 9-years old, so it was a little ambitious to take them to a 2.5 hour cello concert. They recognized some of the music because I sometimes play those suites for them as they're falling asleep.

They had a good time because it was out at Blossom, but I'm sure they'd have preferred it be the Little Mermaid, or ET again.

Maybe someday they'll look back and say, "My dad once took me to see Yo-Yo Ma preform the Bach cello suites in their entirety."

Then again, if they're anything like their father, they'll probably just make dick jokes. . .

The police chief has a conspiracy going? OK.

"all records kept by Powell Police have been maintained for court records, but that the offense report released on July 24 was the only report being released by Powell Police at this time – but did say that any indication that Zach was arrested that came from his department was a result of human error. - Chief Vest

"So the word ‘arrest’ was simply checked on a box that shouldn’t have been checked.” - Chief Vest

Anyone else find it ironic the chief's last name is "Vest"?

Dude, you've got to be kidding. Anytime a legitimate reporter makes an edit to a report they published, they publish reasoning. He only did this because of the backlash he got for making the edit and not even noting it at first.

Secondly I remember you saying "maybe" to a bunch of shit like you just did, but maybe means nothing. You're going to every possible length to give him the benefit of the doubt. Sitting here coming up with "maybe" scenarios shows that you just want anything at all to happen to give him credibility even though, so far, nothing exists.

Thirdly, you're an idiot if you think the Chief of Police is going to go out of his way to start a pissing match with a Facebook reporter. He has bigger fish to fry. At this point, his department is not being accused of any sort of wrong-doing, so why would he waste his time?
All of your drivel makes perfect sense to you and your ilk if you start from the preconceived notion that a dirty biased reporter was out to get you. You have to start there to get to where you are now.

If you start with a well known reporter with 40 years of track record and nothing on the books that even resembles the claims being made, you see a totally different picture.

You want desperately for everyone to believe this 40 year veteran of reporting suddenly went entirely out of his mind and made up facts to push a story he needed to be true. Sorry if that feels way more outlandish and in need of verifiable proof before simply picking more logical reasons like maybe he was duped by a vindictive ex wife.

I simply won't buy your outrageous bias without a lot more than questions about how he updated stories or didn't give you what you wanted.

That McMurphy indicated he has a report with 'Arrest' checked, and the PPD chief says not all records were released on July 24th, and that the box being checked 'Arrest" on reports not released on July 24th should not have been checked and was human error.....

Is somehow my conspiracy? lulz

This thing has gotten pretty ridiculous and pretty much everyone involved has handled it about as poorly as possible.

If Meyer simply tells the truth in that press conference, this whole thing is likely already over.

If McMurphy simply makes his edits in a more correct/above board manner. This is likely already over.

If the Powell Police Chief simply says definitively that no report with the "arrest" box checked exists or just releases the report and says "it was human error", this is likely already over.

Instead, it looks like tOSU kept a known wife beater on staff and only fired him because it was going public, Meyer looks like a hypocrite and liar, McMurphy looks like he tried to "doctor" his previous articles in an underhanded way and the Powell Police Dept. looks incompetent at best and like they are part of a cover up, at worst.

In short, it's taken a whole lot of derp to get where we are now. lol

Yeah that's what I don't get. McMurphy has been one of the best at what he does for a long time. I don't understand the "he's out to get Ohio State/Meyer" narrative.

Innocent? Probably not. However, it also doesn't necessarily mean there was any kind of real conspiracy either.

You basically have Meyer, McMurphy and Chief Vest (are we sure this isn't Tressell? lol) all being guys who are used to "because I said so" being good enough. In this case, it hasn't been.

Meyer probably figured no one would question his denial of knowing anything about it, McMurphy probably figured no one would question his edits and Vest probably figured no one would question him about reports beyond what has already been released.

They were all wrong.

Yeah that's what I don't get. McMurphy has been one of the best at what he does for a long time. I don't understand the "he's out to get Ohio State/Meyer" narrative.
Part natural homer defensive nature, part weird circumstances, and part McMurphy clearly doesn't know how to run his own story without an editorial board would be how I'd view it.

McMurphy hasn't ever been dirty or overly sensationalist, but he's always been a bit of a hack. So I start with his LONG track record and go from there.

They put up like 3 tweets from over SEVEN YEARS AGO FFS where he sort of piles on the OSU scandal from then as proof he entirely fucking hates OSU. Hates them SO much he lays low in the weeds ready to pounce SEVEN FUCKING YEARS LATER with a weird story he at least partially fabricates to show those bastards up good!

No, McMurphy saw something with a box checked IMO and I'll fully believe that until it is entirely proven he didn't and not one moment sooner. Whether or not that form was doctored by Courtney or had some other explanation other than he made it up or doctored it himself, I don't know right now and we won't know for at least several more days.

I'm simply choosing to stick with the simpler answers until we have more facts.

When you've got a 6-figure salary, you can afford a damn good lawyer. My best friend got an OVI where he DID blow dropped down to reckless driving, but he paid out the ass for his attorney, and this was when he was 24, so he wasn't making anywhere near what Smith is.

Yes, agree. Its the probable explanation. Only the Dublin DA knows for sure why the initial charges didn't hold up.

I see it like this...

McMurphy probably has the paper copy given to Courtney with 'Arrest' checked. Figuring there would be shenanigans, he's been holding it as what he perceived to be his 'Ace in the Whole'.

Chief Vest knows it exists, but cut him off at the pass with "It should not have been checked. It's human error".

Urbs and/or Gene Smith influenced the PPD to not pursue the case against Zach.

McMurphy can come clean and drop the report that shows 'Arrest' but it'll be for naught since Chief Vest says it was an error.

Urbs and/or Gene Smith will never admit they intervened in the case. They would lose their jobs.
The Powell PD will never admit they were influenced by anyone at the university. Chief and a couple others would likely lose their jobs.

The committee report says Zach Smith remains fired for violating the protection order and not divulging his 2013 DUI to Urbs.
Urbs reported the 2015 incident to Gene Smith, but Zach was not arrested, so nothing else to see here.
Play ball.

In order to get charges lessened, charges have to be pressed and you have to be arrested.

It is much more likely that the police found out who he was and gave him a free pass like many Ohio State fans are claiming that Courtney got with her alleged drunk driving and let her off with nothing but an escort home.
