Camp reports are saying good things about the Grop and Goodwin connection.

Just about everything says Witherspoon is better than he was last year. Not bad for a guy who got ran over in one of his first practices last TC.

Dick being eased back into the swing of things--definitely better to take it slow wit him.

When Foster is on the field, he has stood WAY out as the best LB on the field--that's a very good thing for us, as long as he'll get his head on straight.

Solomon Thomas...we're still waiting. We can only hope rushing from the interior will go better for him.

The FAs. McKinnon has looked good with the pads on and has been a great receiver out of the backfield. There is talk he could catch 50+ passes. Haven't heard a thing about Richburg (probably a good thing). With Tomlinson entrenched at one OG spot, who will take the other one...is Garnett and company just keeping it warm for Cooper?

The rookies. Warner has stood out the most and is on the fast track to staring. Not much seen on McGlinchey. All reports saying that Pettis is greatin space and can get separation, but he needs to get tougher over the middle and fight more for the ball. It may be a year or 2 before we see anything from Moore, or then again, he could end up being the Joe Williams of this draft. DJ Reed ha shown up in a few positive clips though.

We're just a few days into camp and Armstead is already out of action with a hammy injury. We haven't gotten 16 games out of him in the last 2 seasons combined. Yet for some stupid reason we picked up his 5th year option. Gotta hope we learned our lesson with Ward and we cut him loose before the option becomes guaranteed.

Garnett was "day to day" with a nagging problem, but even before that, he was splitting time with a journeyman nobody in Person.

Big camp battles at WR. We'll likely carry 6 WRs again. Garcon, Goodwin, Taylor and Pettis are locks. That means 2 spots from among Bourne, Burbridge, James, Bolden, Robinson.
--Bourne has to be a heavy favorite to make the team with the sharp camp he's had.
--Robinson is the vet, but didn't do much on the field last year
--Burbridge is the best ST player among them
--James is having a great camp, but he's a slot WR that lacks a lot of ST value
--Bolden is suspended 4 games this year, so he's likely headed to the PS in week 5

I haven't given up on Armstead yet, but the clock is ticking. If he doesn't show something this year, it is probably time to move on. It isn't like he was dominating like Buckner when he was playing either. He showed some promise as a rusher but was a liability as a run defender. He showed nothing at the LEO position last year and the coaches gave up on him playing there. He needs to improve and he can't improve if he isn't on the field. I read Garnett was getting pushed around quite a bit while pass blocking. Still early and he has some catching up to do although he might not be suited for a zone scheme.

I read Tomlinson and Staley looked the best in pass blocking drills. That is encouraging news on Tomlinson. James is having a great camp and so are many of the other receivers. Pettis has looked good and Taylor looked good yesterday also. It is going to be quite the battle. Thomas apparently looks better as a pass rusher this year but the pass rush is still going to be the biggest question mark this year.

The best thing about camp so far is that there are no major injuries. A very, very distant second on my 'look out for' list is that they can make it through the entire pre-season without losing someone for a significant time with injuries. I don't get too caught up or read too much into these 1v1's or 11v11's, although I guess I'd like to hear some positive things about the rookie Glinch.....

Just get the roster set for September when it all counts.

It's interesting that 7th rd pick, Julian Taylor ,has gotten a couple of good reviews playing the Big DE while Armstead is hurt (again).

This team has been really banged up the last few years. I always thought it was just bad luck. But looking back now it is apparent Baalke just drafted a bunch of injury prone players. Seems the same players get hurt over and over again. If Armstead has another injury depleted season I think the team should let him walk

I expect guys like Armstead and Ward to be hurting....and Garnett certainly is setting himself up for a failed career.

Yes, yes, and yes. Not expecting him to be an All Pro, but would like to read he's holding his own?

We already have some feel for most positions, but this spot is huge. We made the tough decision in committing to the rookie Glinch, and there's no turning back. If he can't play at least "NFL average", our offense suffers even worse than with Trent Brown.

He's gotten beat some from what I've read but it's only what a week plus of practice the the o-line will take some time to gel. I have confidence he'll be fine.

He's been getting beat badly, but as the 1v1's favour the offensive player (receiver), the 1v1's on the line favour the defensive player....so I'll have to see him in game conditions. It would be better if he had a really great guard beside him, but that doesn't look to be the case this year.

Ward hurt his hamstring again

Ward or Armstead hurt? It must be football season!

both Ward and Armstrong are hurt. Like you said 1v1 favors the d-linemen he'll be fine for the start of the season.

I given up on Ward, Armstead and Garnett. Total of 17 mill waste this year. All 3 wont be back next year and wouldnt shock me if 2 of them dont make the team.

At least some of the players are coming back from injury and none are too serious. Fred Warner is back practicing as is Richard Sherman.

Ward isn't even playing well when he isn't injured. They just need to move on. Armstead is glass too. He never did anything other than flash as a pass rusher. Crappy run defender.
