Low standards.

I would imagine most people in any given state, when asked to name the best city, would mention their own.

I prefer Zinnzinnati, preferably in October

Maybe they weren't a hundred years before my birth ... every win from every team is history, why should some count for less?
Because if you didn't exist to experience them, the risk of loss, the anxiety of a close game, and the thrill of victory, then it (should be) completely meaningless to a true sports enthusiast.

I am MORE than happy to forget about the first 100 years of my team's history

Why would they do that?

Seems to be a well run city. Good location with an excellent university. Good suburbs. Affordable housing. Plenty of things to do. Good restaurants. City is clean. Good hospitals and parks.

But how does anybody living anywhere else in the state know any of that about Columbus? Do they teach that in middle school?

I'm still guessing most people would say their own town.

There's newspapers, the Internet, city ratings, and visitors from other parts of the state.

For some meeeechegan fans the sight of that ancient helmet brights back national championship memories.

Technically, there should be a separate list for games played before 1912 (at least I think that's the correct date). That is the year the modern football era came into being. Prior to that season, the number of players, the size of the field, and various other rules & regulations fluctuated immensely. So did the size & shape of the ball.

By 1912, the field size was set at 100 yards, four downs were required to move the ball 10 yards to get a first down; six points were awarded for a touchdown, three points for a field goal; 11 players to a team was an agreed-upon maxim.

Prior to this time there were variables in scoring rules from year, and there were even localized rules that might vary in different sections of the country. The football, itself, evolved over time.

So, realistically, there should be a separate accounting for developmental - or primitive - football, and for modern football.

Keep Harbaugh on long enough and Texas will eventually surpass Michigan.
