Ballage will need to learn to hold on to the ball better. There was no need to try to hurdle the guy. He had the first down already. It's a learning experience for him. Better now in preseason than in the regular season.

I agree completely. What I like the most about what the cameras caught from that scenario was the exchange he had with the RB coach -- he immediately went towards Ballage and gave him some coaching points. I hope the rest of our coaching staff sees that and follows his lead about holding players accountable for their mistakes - not just let them go back to the sidelines and say nothing to them.

Ballage looks like he can be a quality workload/change of pace RB as he continues to learn at this level -- especially ball security.

Having said that, I still think the Fins should appreciate the depth and versatility at the RB position -- they need to use it -- doing otherwise would be irresponsible

Fales at QB with some good throws. Perry with some excellent runs including the TD.

-6 at the half -- the good and the bad for the Fins has been pretty even - they need to tilt that into a more positive direction at the half to try and get this win(it matters to me to some extent) and to justify some of the improvements that have been made so far from camp, early in the game and last season.

I will keep saying it -- Depth at key positions. It may not be the names/quality some of our fans desire but thats proven to be not as effective as we wanted -- the Fins have a lot of pieces to work with.

Phillips & Taylor with great pressure on the QB to end the 2nd half. The Fins have good talent on the team on both sides of the ball. I think they have more depth at positions than in years past.

Then a classic pre-snap offensive penalty for Fins

They certainly have it -- and I would argue they've had it previous seasons as well(but thats a different, past issue at this point)

Like I said earlier, I hope this showcasing of our depth isn't just some pre-season thing and the AG and his staff use it to their advantage all season long.

Allen caused the fumble, good recovery by Lucas. The Fins have been playing better on defense this half.

I really hope that coaching(specifically on the defensive side) catches up to the capabilities of the players on that side of the ball and puts them in better positions to succeed. I complained a lot last couple of seasons how Burke and our other former Bengals DC -- and his inability and unwillingness to bring pressure in situations he couldve/shouldve and failure to make in-game adjustments.

Have seen some of the same issues again tonight but not as much or as bad. A lot of these guys are young and inexperienced - but they are strong and fast and that needs to be used to their advantage.

Costly penalty in the red zone for fins -- and then the pre-season approach of going for it on 4th down and the fins come up empty.

Malcolm Lewis from...DA U stepping up for Brock but he keyed in on him a little too much and it became predictable

Overall not a bad game. D will have to tighten up a bit. We did see some good efforts. Petty looked good in the end too. We'll know more as we go...

I actually think that Petty may be better, younger and cheaper than the other two. Hopefully he keeps improving and Gase recognizes it..

I haven't seen Petty as much. In my opinion Fales is still the best choice for backup QB unless Petty keeps playing well.

On a different note, I think the Fins are going to have to prove to teams that they can stop the run. If they do that and/or build early leads in games, I like their chances of pressuring QBs and getting wins.

At this point Fales is safer but I think Petty has more upside. I remember him in a game against the Fins and he was pretty good but his team wasn't. He could end up being a better starter in the future hate to see the Fins lose him.

Agreed on the run D if you can't stop it you will lose. They need to run and stop it to have success. Teams who do make the playoffs no matter who their QB is.

Heard Tannehill kicked Ballage out of huddle after missing block in backfield and hired they cut second sting DE for fight with Drake? Things heating up a bit, which I think is good.

THill knows that missed blocks could mean he gets leveled for lost yardage & possibly injured. He said right after that he really believes in Ballage. I also am very glad the Fins picked him. He's got a lot of potential.

The better teams get better blocking. You rarely see missed assignments with blocking by the Pats.

No doubt that other QB's wouldn't be happy either.

On a different note Ballage got a concussion the following day. I hope that he recovers well.

RE intense practices: It happens. The team can't let it get out of hand though.
