I read something a while back where I think Vince Gilligan himself was pretty open about Chuck’s death. Said it wasn’t really intended to be a cliffhanger.

I think they intended to be pretty clear that he died, and rewatching it recently it was. I think we’re just so used to shows jerking us around we always assume stuff is meant to be left open with all possibilities in play.

Maybe they will come out and say the entire story line for BCS was just a dream that Walter White had?

(for those of you who are old enough to remember Dallas)

Was Walter White in Dallas? Damn I don't remember that at all.

I remember Newhart did this. Never watched Dallas... just the big "who shot JR" thing.

As an Italian I can relate to the sweatsuit and gold chain.

Fuggedabodit!!

A NYC Italian actually said this to me...we were in Little Italy and he was trying to drag us into his restaurant for lunch. He actually grabbed my buddy's arm and was pulling him towards the door...guess he didn't appreciate us resisting the assault!

The place must suck if they have to drag people in.

That is EXACTLY what we thought!
We weren't even hungry yet, didn't eat for an hour or two after the encounter.

Kind of reminded me of what my dad told me about shopping on Maxwell Street in Chicago when he was a kid, during the Depression stores would hire big bruisers to push people in and not let them go until they bought something. Seemed like just a small step away from robbery, but I guess the owner could show the police that a sale had occurred if they were called. Dad said he was small enough to zip past the goons' legs when they tried to block him.

Noticed on my last few trips to NYC that Little Italy was shrinking, but there were still some good restaurants there. We have stayed at the Leon Hotel near the Manhattan Bridge the last several trips, I like the location and price and it's a decent enough place. Also convenient to get giant sodas at the Popeye's next door after we return from traipsing around the city all dehydrated.

Finally back, thought this was going to be the last season, but I see season 5 is already a go.

Lodge 49 looks interesting.

I guess I definitely took it as a successful suicide. I would have thought him living would be pretty cheap and beneath this show.

Solid first episode to get back into things. The first few minutes of "present day" were really intense. Then at the end, Jimmy's "your cross to bear" line was so cold blooded.

So what, exactly, snapped for Jimmy? Is he relieved that he caused Chuck’s death, or is he broken because of it? Was he nervous that he would be caught, but now feels safe that he won’t be tracked?

I took it that he felt real guilt that he caused Chuck's suicide but when he heard that Howard's spiel, he was more than happy to take that out and let Howard feel the full responsibility of it. He knew the insurance thing would be a problem, he just didn't expect Chuck to ultimately kill himself so he felt bad, but now he's got a plausible reason to say it wasn't all him.
