Big day for the Flyers prospects at the WJSS.

Cates 1G
Farabee 1G
OBrien 2G
(USA still lost to Canada :L)

Ginning 1G

Not Frost’s best showing from all accounts. Shouldn’t effect us ‘shoe-in’ status for the WJC (assuming he doesn’t make the flyers)

Cates’ goal was pretty slick. From right outside the crease with lots of traffic he dug the pug out, pulled it between his legs, and snapped it in between his legs.

I can't believe Vegas re-signed William Karlsson (43 goals, 78 points last season) to a one year deal for only $5.25 million. That's an enormous hometown discount for this kid. He'll be a RFA still in the next offseason and command huge dollars then, but I am stunned that he didn't get it this time. I mean, just imagine how much he would've gotten in arbitration. Probably $8 million or more, who knows...

This suddenly becomes one of the best bang for your buck, non-entry level deals in the entire Nhl. I would say better than the year Simmonds has left.

The only player who made less last season and scored as many points on a non-entry level deal was Kucherov. He was just extended for $9.5 million per and is the same age.

He'll be hearing from Peta soon..

Eh, i'm not that surprised. I would've targeted 1 year if I was Vegas too. Keep him RFA next summer, but get an extra year to see if he's legit. He had more points (78) in 82 games last year than he had in his career prior to that (183gp, 50 points). .95ppg versus .27ppg. That's a massive difference and I wouldn't want to bet a long term contract on him replicating that. If he does so this year, then maybe you're more comfortable. If you go long term and big dollars after last year and he's closer to the .27ppg player you've got a serious albatross on your hands.

The Sabres are going to be very good very soon. They are loaded top 3 lines. Their defense is coming together. I guess their weakest link would be goaltending. IMO they got Skinner as a steal.
Just another team we have to contend with in the Eastern conference

Agree. They have had a top 5 pick in the last 3-4 years. Very Pens like situation from years ago when MAF, Sid, and Malkin came along.

I read that Frost went from the first to the third line but stayed at center on each line. Hope he shines in the WJC.

That's what I'm saying. Vegas got exactly what they wanted here. The player could've easily balked at the offer and gotten way more money in arbitration. He's earned the big money. Pretty slim chance that season was a fluke. He's the number one option in Vegas. In Columbus, he was number seven...Lol

Also A question, If you could lock up Provorov for 10 years would it be worth uit and what would you think is a fair offer? I would def like to see some of these kids get long term deals, no more restricted trade deals though, I personally don't like them.
