It was dying down. The networks weren’t even showing the protest anymore. The NFL should’ve stayed out of it in the first place, but nope, they let Trump hi jack the whole thing.

Guess the NFL has even more money to burn.
I'm guessing there is some tax loop hole that outweighs their patriotism. Those 32 billionaire's aren't in the business of losing a dime.

A tax loophole that negates the loss of anywhere from 10 to 18 percent of their viewers? That doesn't exist.

Roger Goodell is running this police unilaterally, and they just extended his contract. This is a Goodell thing, not an owner thing. He's tired of having his feewings hurt with getting boo'd at the draft, and he already has his money locked in, so what does he care?

The owners f***ed up badly by extending his deal. Now they're going to pay for it out the nose (or just buy out his contract & get someone else in there).

He still works for the owners. Definitely agree they screwed up giving him a new deal. Loop hole, lost revenue sharing... again the billionaires aren't just going to sit back and lose $ because of some players we both know they really don't care about.

You're trying to claim that the owners will make the same amount of money with their pre-protest ratings as they would with the post-protest ratings, and that's simply not true. This "loophole" you're talking about doesn't exist.

No I never said they'd make the same. What I said is they will not just take a loss based on a few disgruntled employees. At the current time the PR nightmare (patriotism or imperialist you choose) is not worth it to them likely? Also there haven't been any new owner meetings that I'm aware of since this last fiasco. However, I'm sure the power players have spoken and decided their course of action. It won't be to take a loss sitting down if the viewer rates are as you claim. When was the last time you knew of an owner standing by while an employee or two lost them huge revenues? They're billionaire's for a reason. Some got lucky and were born into it. But they haven't lost their family fortune either. Big money protects big money.

The problem with that theory is that you don't understand the owners aren't calling the shots on this one. Goodell is. He has full control over this.

When the owners met, he said they'd be fined for kneeling. All of a sudden, he does a 180 with no owner meetings having taken place (and some owners already saying players will be suspended for this).

This is Goodell being a limp bitch. The players calling him a "devil" during the CBA negotiations got to him.

OK say what you will after this. I'll no longer debate you. We're no better then anyone one we're calling out if we continue to bring any light on this matter. Goodell calling the shots is your theory. Unless of course you work in the NFL HQ?

Technically, it's not a theory. It's a fact: Goodell has 100% control of player discipline unless they fire him.

That's public knowledge.

The theory technically remains Goodell is doing this all on his own. :suds:

Feels like they wanted to avoid another ugly litigation with the NFLPA and they probably weren't 100% sure their policy would hold in court.

At this point, it's better for all parties to let it go and move on because they're just sticking knives in the golden goose with nothing to show for it.

and he keeps control by doing the bidding of the majority of the owners. He got control by sticking it to the stronger owners , Jones and Kraft. The "lesser owners" like it that they quietly get their say.

Common fallacy: The owners are buddies. They are not a club!
